I have a vintage Wilton Bullet with 5 inch jaws. It's a beast.

I just like to support American manufacturing when and where I am able to. Manufacturing should be a point of American pride and a key component of our strategic independence. It's a national shame that we've ceded that to Asian countries and I'd like to send a message that we want more manufacturing to happen here. But there are times when the price vs return is so out of proportion, it's not always easy to do. |

This Columbian D45-M4 needs to get sandblasted and a coat of boiled linseed oil applied.

Can you park cast iron? It appears you can. Not sure I want to invest in the equipment to do that. |

If you come across a RIDGID 66987 it's made of steel in Europe and a damn good vise for around $600.

Garage sales and pawn shops.
It's not like they wear out (realistically). |

I still need to get it to the blast cabinet. I've got the mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil now. |

I have several old Wilton bullet vises in a variety of sizes. Recently I picked up used but nearly new Wilton 5" Mechanics Vise with swivel base for $20. When I went to get it, I was expecting a not so nice Chinese vise, but figured I could use the swivel base for a different Vise at least. In all honesty, it's a well made, powder coated, nicely finished vise. It doesn't have the same charm as the older vises but I can't call it a POS in any way.
