Is there any other maine coon cat owners here on the site? I have a eight year old Calico maine coon with papers ( alot of papers and documentation) that was a rescue few months ago where the breeder and owner passed away and I was lucky enough to get told about Annie (my maine coon) since then she's been living with me with no issues. I have notice she's very gentle, sweet, lovable and eats a lot of food for her (breed size). This is Annie...Her traits are, sleeping, food/eat time and being lovable when she wakes up from naps she doesn't ask for much since she's been here. She doesn't mind being brushed as long I'm gentle with her. She does have sensitive hair and skin which she does have food that deals with that. She loves treats such as temptations chicken flavor (maine coon choice of food). She eats wet cut up wet food she will not eat pate at all since I tried her on it she just walks away from it so I stopped giving her pate. Her preferred choice of food is Royal Canin hair and skin and digestive wet food and Royal Canin digestive dry food. So far after being on Royal Canin she doesn't have any issues eating Royal Canin. Her vet I take her to said she's in good health even though the situation she lived in (very sad) when she was a kitten she had a injury to the left side of her face and that's how it healed over time before I took possession of her. The vet told me to make sure to brush her, give her a bath every month to help keep her coat/hair cleaned and healthy. What do you feed your maine coon? photo credit my mother.   |
Sweetie isn't a pure maine coon, but she's got some of the fuzziness of one.  That's Beans next to her. They both get fancy feast canned food, as well as purina naturals and temptations dry food. Beans tends to like cheese, too.Attached File |

Maine Coon Cat Lorna, (a dog in a cat suit) was proficient in feeding herself. Mice. Spiders. Voles. And the occasional snake. The best cat ever. I used to kid myself that I was her best friend. But Georgie, our GSD was her best buddy. Her superpower was befriending dogs. Any dog. |

At one point we had 4 of them - all "returns" to the breeder after the original owner couldn't take care of them anymore. Great cats - very even tempered and docile. Will play fetch with rolled up paper balls. Definitely need quite a bit of coat care. And, as mentioned, they eat a lot. And as a consequence, they poop huge. Have large litter boxes - the number of your cats plus one - and clean them daily. Otherwise they will take a dump wherever they feel like. Ask me how I know.

I did a job at a lady's house and she was not going to be home but I was able to go in and do the job. She had 3 of these cats she didn't bother to tell me about. The first one I saw was sitting there staring at me. At first I thought it was a statue, and it was a bit freaky. Then I found the other two in other rooms doing the same thing, just sitting there looking at me. I petted them and moved on but it was weird. Cool cats for sure, not sure I would want one let alone three. |

Here is Mongo. He was my Mainecoon I got from a breeder. He was not a show quality cat so he was cheap. He was a great cat, he is now in kitty heaven. Attached File |

| I Had one growing up. "Turbo" was a big 20 pounder who when wet was skinny. He loved the rain and would raise hell until you let him out. One day three large dogs chased him up a tree. After 5 minutes he got tired of them not leaving and dropped down out of the tree and chased all three away. He was very friendly and had a quiet wimpy meow. |

Beautiful cats everyone. As someone who loves dogs and cats I would love to have a dog especially a siberian, husky or a german shepard but never got the chance to own one of those breeds due to my mother having Leukemia but in remission. I do have another cat as well a domestic long hair that is also loving but she doesn't like to be pet most of the time. She's a rescue as well when she was little. What all cat stands does everyone use? |
