I have often thought about doing this. There are plenty of 'recipes' available online. The only stumbling block is finding bay tree leaves (pimenta racemosa) which is not the same as bay laurel (the bay leaves used in cooking). Perhaps one of our members who lives in Florida might clue us in since the bay tree is a tropical plant. |

Smelling like liquor is always a good idea in the workplace.
It may even allow you to demonstrate your dexterity after a traffic stop. |

Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I forgot how to be violent

Ingredients I didn't see on the list were black peppercorns, lime zest, and cloves As far as "store bought" bay rums go you generally get what you pay for. On the low end there's Pinaud and Masters Well Comb. Pinaud is very heavy on clove. Masters is a bit mellower and sort of "sweet". The only other bay rum I've ever purchased was Michelsen's but that's been decades ago. Expensive...and worth it. |

And a couple versions from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements. I like the Phoenix ones. |

That's the main point with Bootlegger. The ingredients by themselves are either too potent or too weak. When you mix all of them, it creates a well balanced tonic. Plus the end result will last you a lifetime without spending too much. Ogalalla sage and cedar is a good one but you will spend a lot for a 4oz bottle. |

I was considering getting a bottle of "Dominica" bay rum but it's no longer made. However, the same company now produces it under the name "Grand Bay". You can sometimes find "barber shop grade" bay rums at those beauty supply stores that cater to an urban clientele. LOL I call those stores "weaves R us". A lot of them do carry an interesting line of aftershaves and some shaving supplies. Also Osage Rub which is a prime part of my summertime cooling ice water shave routine known as... THE MENTHOL PLAN
