That's neat.

Doesn't hold a candle to banana taped to wall though.

That's amazing.  I wonder how they weave rocks like that?

What I find incredible is how poorly the eyebrows are done compared to the intricate and stunning detail in the lace.

Seems like a waste of a time from a skilled mason who could be creating something of value

How long do you figure that model had to sit and pose while that was being carved?

That and the veiled effect.  Some unbelievably talented people sculped marble over the years.

I prefer statues of nude men breastfeeding babies, but these are OK I  guess.

"almost, just got the eyebrows left"

"yeah, well, remember it needs to be out of here by 1pm"

Those works with the lace, roping, and veils are incredible.  Here is a pic of The Veiled Rebekah, at the High Museum in Atlanta. I grew up fascinated by it. I had always been in awe of the skill and patience that must have been required to execute it.  Still, staring at it person, I can't quite figure it out.

The eyebrows are consistent with the beauty standards of the era; in fact they are a little heavy.

I was going to mention that one. I've stood in front of that in awe quite a few times.

When I was growing up, the statue was in the main branch of the library, downtown.  But when that was "remodeled" and became a virtual homeless shelter, it was removed to the High Museum.  And, as a bit of trivia, the High Museum served as the mental institution that housed Hannibal Lecktor when Will Graham visited him in the movie, "Manhunter," the first movie of the series.
