It was designated Försöksmodell 56, experimental model 56, by Carl Gustaf. However, it’s rumored to have been formally designated Ksp 56 by the MoD, indicating that it was close to entering service.

Looks like you could easily defeat it with a shoelace.  And the implications are terrible for morale.  Marks every man as weak willed and untrustworthy.  It probably has a net negative effect.

"5th Marines Staff Sergeant John E. Boitnott of Kentucky, credited with nine kills, poses for a combat photographer during a break in the action in July 1952. Having a PFC volunteer draw enemy fire by walking around, Boitnott was able to identify and sight-in on enemy positions."

ETA Obituary: "He and his brother Henry joined the United States Marine Corps in July of 1941. Stationed aboard the USS Chicago, he was wounded during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Serving continuously throughout WWII, John served in many well known battles including the Coral Sea, Midway, Makin, New Britain, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. Continuing his service through the post-war years, John was again called to war in 1950. Designated as a Platoon Sergeant, he was tapped to be one of the first scout snipers on the Korean Peninsula. In this new position, he was made famous throughout the Marine Corps for a record nine shots, nine kills between 670 and 1250 yards to take out enemy snipers who were shooting at his fellow Marines."
