I have to work 23 more shifts between now and 6/20/24 when I finish a 37 yr career. 4 more Mondays, 6 Tuesdays, 5 Wednesdays, 6 Thursdays & 2 Fridays. No Saturdays or Sundays.  Can't wait to GTFO out of Tampa and enjoy my cabin in the Blue Ridge. ............... The cabin didn't get done until August 9, '24. I have 4 acres on the mountain top and wish I would have done this earlier. Young guys, always wear your body armor, respect those body cams and if you have go hands on, give it 100%. |

Surrounded by my kids & my youngest sister, I went X-7 for the final time today and am X-42. I received two shadow boxes. One from a partner agency with 3 of their challenge coins and a pic and one from my unit with all my body armor tear offs. I also got 5 bottles of bourbon to include Four Roses small batch, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Benchmark Single Barrel and Eagle Rare. 37 years and I'm done. 50 + people came and although my eyes got misty, I made it thru. I will miss my brothers & sisters, but my time has come & gone. To those that remain on the job, be vigilant & go home safe ! |

It will feel surreal for a few months. It’s great though! I sometimes get asked why I don’t keep in touch with the office, life goes on. I do talk to and text the guys and gals I worked closely with. Don’t let the change bother you, revel in it. Retirement is awesome controlling the minutes and hours of your life.   Congratulations on 37 years......I haven’t seen a number like that since my first lt. retired and his best friend the statewide head of our k9 program. Well done! |

| This July will be 27 for me. I formally retired at my 25year mark but I am double dipping because I cannot afford to buy a place at the moment(build back better and all that BS!) Anyway my dad told me that you need to stay busy doing something after you retire and that's my plan. Just not sure where or doing what. Congrats to you for a long career. |

September 13 will be 20 for me, and my last day wearing a badge and it can't get here soon enough. I am currently burning through vacation and sick time to get there. I can't afford to retire, but I can afford to do something else, and that's an exciting thing. |
