I like that a lot. Big heads are my jam.
I feel like a strat sounds better with a rosewood board. But that looks great. FWIW my current strat style is maple. |

View Quote Interestingly enough, I don’t really care for the CBS large headstock. But as a Gilmour fan, I’d always wanted something from the Meddle/live at Pompeii era. I have an Animals/‘77 era black strat clone and the 2005 Live 8 era black strat. Rosewoods are lovely on strats. Ever since I was a kid and idolized Stevie Ray I wanted a rosewood in burst. |

My version circa 2005 live 8 version. Headstock doesn’t have the contour body decal. I wanted to add his OG NOS version to my collection. ETA: when I get back from Japan I will add a family photo. My white strat and Animals era black strat are still in storage sadly. |

I'm not much of a pickup snob, but replacing the oem's really made a difference with the pedals (yes I'm an old fart with actual pedals). The oem pickups weren't bad actually and may end up in another project. |

I want to see that family photo. Having a collection that are snap shots of the transformations over the years is really cool. I have a partscasters Black Strat inspired that I put together a while back that is a blast to play. |

When I get home to the states I will take a pic of what I have out of storage. Partscaster black strat is correct strat! Gilmour’s started life as a 69 but it became a mish mash of parts over the years. When elitists start snubbing so called partscasters, I laugh because most of the greatest strat players all played a form of partscaster. The black strat, blackie and brownie, Lenny, hell even number 1 went through multiple changes. Frankenstein is probably the king of partscasters! Enjoy your build man! Music is life. |

It's one of my favorites to play. I made mine from the Fender American Original series with a 60s body and 50s neck so they are nitro finishes. I wanted the sunburst because the Black Strat is supposed to have been a sunburst that was sprayed black at Manny's. Attached File |
