Been dinking around for the past few years with a Fender Hellcat acoustic/electric and lately I have really been going heavy into learning. Decided it was time so I went to my local Guitar Center fully intending to order a Fender American Professional II HSS Stratocaster in the black/blue Dark Night color. I knew they were sold out of it but they had a Mercury HSS that I could get a feel of. However they did have a Player II HSS with a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker I wanted to give at least an honest try. I expected to be completely blown away by the Amstrat that it wouldn't even be close. I was wrong. The mexistrat sounded way better to me, and I tried it on three amps. I couldn't feel much of a difference playing both. Definitely not $1000 worth. That SD JB humbucker *growls*. Fender really shot themselves in both feet with this model. My local GC cut me a really good deal. Bought the Player II, a case, a Mustang GTX100 amp, a nice music stand, a big Ernie Ball instrument/headphone combo cable and their "we'll cover everything but theft" warranty for $1800. ETA: forgot the free setup and three free sets of Elixir nanoweb 9s The repair tech that sold it to me circled the date on the receipt and said "bring this back to us right before the 3 year warranty expires and let us strip it down, clean it, and relevel your frets. It'll be covered." I'm pretty stoked and that GTX100 is a hell of a lot of fun. Its going to take me forever to learn how to use it to its fullest but I'm very happy with the sound. There may be a world full of Stratocasters but this one is mine.  Color: Moonlight Drive, roasted maple neck

Hell he's already trying to offload his Peavey Deuce with widows on me but I told him the LAST thing I needed was a hundred pound amp that could blow the paint off my walls. Much less where I'd store the Anvil case it comes in. |
