Not to worry, the bond market is currently acknowledging it. After today's moves, what's an average 30-year mortgage, 7.3%? There's a breaking point, and we're approaching it. Those "kids" living at home might end up looking pretty smart.

It's probably the boring places that tend to be more affordable.  The cool exciting places are priced out of the market for many.

Trust me, there is nothing exciting about the Lehigh Valley area of PA where I am. But it’s within “driving distance” of NYC and Philly, and after 9/11 and especially covid, this area has exploded. It’s insane how bad the traffic and home prices have become. 30 years ago this place was nowhereville and nobody cared that it was 85 miles from Manhattan. Might as well have been Mars.

My Samsung S26, and wifes S26 Ultra are $0, and the total phone bill is about $15 more per month than a landline cost 25 years ago (adjusted for inflation).

Just like what I pay per month in Spotify and Netflix cost less than renting from Blockbuster, buying vinyl records, tapes, VHS, and CDs back in the day.

The cell phone/streaming scapegoat is tired BS that won't go away.
When the going gets tough, the tough go cyclic.

Sorry. Modern society drains the youth in all modern countries of their vitality for the sake of the comfort of the old. Gotta prioritize. This generational vampirism is going to end, might as well be peacefully.

I wasn't. Its what I could afford. Granted I didn't have a childhood home I could live in.

Lived there for 5 years before we made enough to start looking at homes, with two incomes.

That was fifteen years ago. Wife stays home, we have a nice home we had built. We also had a domestic relocation in there as well so third home, each bigger and better than the last.

Not hard. People just don't want to sacrifice and work your way up, from what I can see.

Cheap 70 year old single-wides on single lots in the high-crime trailer park here start at just over 200k (I live in one of the poorer parts of my state, so its not like there are million dollar vacation homes all over the place by me). Very, very few are for rent, most are for sale only. You want to save a little money on a mobile home you move to the REALLY bad one in the nearby city, and those are in the 150s or surrounded by literal crack shacks. We are a WORLD apart from where we were fifteen years ago, my friend. That world that you lived in is dead and gone, and it isn't coming back.

The new water tap fee in my county is $50k. Gotta factor that in as well.

7.3% interest is the norm long term, it's certainly not ''high'' like some keep thinking.

Artificially low interest rates did more to raise housing prices then most people want to admit to themselves.

At some point something will have to give but lets face it, the people demanded a shit sandwich for lunch, government provided you one, plus another for dinner. Now you all have decided shit sandwiches taste pretty.........duh, shitty.

People really think borrowing money shouldn't cost anything, and if this were true, there wouldn't be a single dime available to borrow because lenders would take their money elsewhere.

Liberals are a curious mix of communism and fascism, they want to destroy you but want to use your own money to do it.

I'm getting down to the last box, the others have all been destroyed...

I'm not sure how to make the problem any easier for you to understand.

There was even a color coded graph on a previous page...that didn't help?

I don't have to provide a solution to identify a problem. That's some dumb stipulation that you made up.

Bro, why are you trolling people today?   Yes, cell phones are super important to life these days.  I did not say anything about spending 2500 dollars on the most expensive cell on the market.    Touch grass.

Daughter 24 living at home. Got her Masters degree last year( she paid for it and has no debt). She just got a promotion. Works in IT and finance. Will probably move out late this year or early next when her boyfriend puts a ring on her finger. I happily provide a roof over her head, a car for her to drive, medical insurance and a phone.
She is youngest of Five children.  Some would be welcome back if they needed. Some would not because they wouldn’t respect my home.

Homes might be more affordable if the previous administration hadn’t let over 20 million migrants enter the United States.
That’s 20 million more places to live available for Americans.
