A buddy of mine is a retired prison guard. Prisoners are still really big into the penpal thing. It occupies their time and allows communication with people that they don't have in prison. Apparently the gay penpal thing was big at the one he worked in. I know that people who pissed him off would start getting unsolicited sexy time letters from prisoners, usually at their work.
