It was probably significantly "easier" to get away with stuff like this and cover up an infant death because death before age 5 was so common. Not suggesting that women were regularly killing their children, but with rates that high it would certainly raise less suspicion back then. - Probably sadly true. - What a depressing thread. I couldn't even read all the way down through all of those. Just sick, Evil, twisted human beings. How could you possibly do that to your kid's? What were your numbers to demonstrate it might be natural variance? The null hypothesis (that it is random variance) is always the assumption. I don't have to prove it wasn't a statistically-significant increase, the onus is on the person making the argument to prove that it was. Now that we have the statistics issue out of the way I will move on to take issue with your mischaracterization of what I said. I never, even once, said the increase wasn't the result of a "Clancy effect", I simply said that we don't know it was and that doing so in the absence of sufficient evidence is just creating clickbait headlines. |
It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt.

Going off those numbers. 84 children killed in a 7 year period puts it at ~12 kids killed a year by their mom. Seems a bit low to be honest. We have nerfed our society from highlighting crimes women commit. |

There are quite literally hundreds of thousands of women supporting this vile cunt. That’s the news. These bitches need reigned in real fucking fast. Our country is already ruined by these types of women. Men need to stand the fuck up and start taking back control. Sorry ladies, no more voting. You fucked it up for everyone. |

Since guys kill their kids too then I guess no one should be able to vote if you followed the same logic |

Then just say that instead of making up factuality incorrect assertions for rage bait purposes (ie sparking emotional responses). We are supposed to be the pragmatic logical sex no? I don’t disagree that the woman supporting her are fucked up. 19th will never be repealed. At best it’ll continue to be a social media fantasy. Acting like it’s a possibility is a delusional as these women. Yea yeah yeah there is always a conservative girlfriend in these discussions low key agrees with the fact women voting with emotions is a major issue. Rubber meets the road, repeal was on the ballot, conservative girls aren’t going to vote their own rights away. Obviously leftist would never do it either. It’ll be an easy way to get AOC elected president. I don’t have an answer but, logically, pragmatically, it’ll never happen and we’d lose more ground in any attempt to. |

This is nothing new. We have become a Godless society that encourages the murder of babies in the womb. These women are just carrying on the work after they are born. I wish I knew the answer. Attached File |

| We want and take God out of our lives, this is what happens. We are sinners by birth and some prefer to stay that way and try to perfect sin. Evil grows stronger and more are attracted to it because it allows you to have no guilt over your choices. The only way we can be saved is with the help of the Holy Spirit leading more to Jesus but as a Christian, we know in this world we lose but that doesn't mean we should not preach and talk to others about Him, even these people. |

ChatGPT found 13 maternal child-murder incidents involving 29 children killed in the 1,313 days before Clancy became nationally known, compared with 31 incidents involving 54 children killed in the identical 1,313 days afterward. That's an increase of 18 incidents, or about 138%, and 25 child deaths, or about 86%. ChatGPT also found a suicide component in 12 of the 13 pre-Clancy incidents versus 19 of 31 post-Clancy incidents; successful maternal suicide occurred in 10 pre-Clancy cases versus 13 afterward, while attempted-but-unsuccessful suicide occurred in 2 versus 6. There were also 2 surviving children injured/targeted in the pre-period and 8 in the post-period. The most dangerous person a child comes in contact with is their mother. If she doesn’t kill them before they are even born there is a high chance she will kill them after. (Brought to you because women often say the most dangerous person in their lives is their husband. Pot-Kettle) |

Take care of each other Sadly, this is world I see too. Deep in my heart I wish it weren't the case, but the indifference toward our fellow man/woman isn't anything I've ever seen before. I spend more time than I thought I would, trying to caution my kids about the world that may await them. Maybe that comes with middle age, where I realize I could be gone tomorrow, and I want them to be told certain things that only age and wisdom can bring. But this dystopian future is advancing fast. |

So, looking strictly at the publicly identifiable cases, ChatGPT found a substantial increase in both the number of maternal child-murder incidents and the number of children killed after January 25, 2023. What is really shows is that cases like this are not uncommon and may* be increasing. *Controlling for better news coverage and attention is not easy. My editorial opinion is that this particular instance seemed to have whatever is necessary to grab headlines and be a stake in the culture war, not that its so unheard of. To state that these are "copycat" crimes is disingenuous. Institutionalization needs to be brought back. This idea that crazy people should live amongst us is asinine and dangerous. Also this idea that if someone is crazy enough we can't punish them, is even more ridiculous. Bulls**t. They've been glorifying it and perfecting it since the JonBen t Ramsey murder. Then Casey Anthony. Now if you want to discuss how this is merely the latest example of depravity and how pop culture has come around not only to excuse the murders but to go as far as blame men, or even celebrate it, then fine. No disagreement here. My point is specific to the topic, not a commentary on society. More than one of those murderers in the headlines I posted is pleading insanity, more than one is blaming medication they were taking, more than one attempted suicide and two succeeded, three are from Massachusetts, and all 27 occurred after the Lindsay Clancy murders. Copycats. You don't get to define the word. |

Copycats. You don't get to define the word. Yeah that still doesn’t mean any of them are copycat incidents. All of the factors you cited are common in cases whether mothers kill their children. Just like there are extremely similar fact patterns when the father does it. |

Not gonna read this whole thread, because honestly I don’t need to think about this stuff more than I already do, but I would not call any of this “copycat”, as such horrible crimes have happened many times in the past. One of, if not the absolute worst, incidents I was involved with was a mother tossing her kids off a bridge, killing one. Absolutely horrible to look at a dead little kid, knowing she did it just to spite her ex husband. This happened long ago, because like I said, it has happened forever. Vindictive people kill their kids, men do it as well. They should all see a rope at the gallows, the are broken people and cannot be fixed. |
a loaded gun won’t set you free, so you say…

Hadn't really followed this case, but the first article I read about postpartum psychosis: 1) incidence is somewhat low, but >1 is unsat 2) there are no screening protocols Not to justify anyone's behavior, but if there's a chance a mother might kill her children, that seems to be a public health emergency that warrants attention and safeguards. Hopefully some sort of screening becomes standard for all mothers.. |

I am not making excuses, but I think how the medical system treats people that need mental help is broken. This woman knew something was wrong with her mentally and she was trying to get help from medical doctors for months. Look at the list of meds she was being put on and off and on again. Even when someone has phycosis, the doctor relies on what that person says as to how they are doing before the meds and after on meds. It is broken. Someone that has psychosis may be in and out of reality and in and out of paranoia. Someone psychotic can think the doctor is the enemy and lie like crazy making herself seem normal in conversation but actually be completely out of touch with reality, yet the doctor takes what they say, if they say normal things, as truth. They do not rely on family or friends observations because of HIPPA. It is completely broken. Now add psych meds which are trial and error because they don't measure brain chemistry, they just throw brain altering drugs at someone, with no observation and rely on what the patient says about how they feel unless they are in an inpatient facility. It doesn't work. the whole system is ineffective and can make things much worse. I think looking back on it, she should have been in a psych hospital to be put on meds and stabilized, but that shit is expensive, it is much easier to throw dangerous meds at someone and hope for the best. Most SSRIs and SNRIs and psychosis meds carry an FDA suicidal warning, they should also carry a homicidal warning too, because there is not much difference between wanting to kill yourself and wanting to kill your kids to save them from some imagined horrible threat and I think the majority of these cases where the mom or dad kill their kids they are on at lest one of these drugs if not several, yet nothing is done about it. Doctors even prescribe these dangerous drugs off label as sleep aids, pain relievers, and for anxiety, not just depression and people have very different results and reactions. The whole process is fucked up, yet it keeps on happening over and over again. |

You mean men like those who make up 94% of the prison population? I mean, if we’re basing voting on perpetration of or support for heinous acts, men are on shaky ground. And the reality of a lot of the support Clancy is getting isn’t supporting what she did. It’s based on the fact that women’s medical concerns are routinely minimized or dismissed or completely mismanaged by the professionals who are supposed to know what they’re doing. Up until 1993, it wasn’t even required to include women in medical studies, even though it’s been understood for ages that medications affect women differently. Many of the “safe” medications and doses were never even tested on women. That’s not just minor oversight. A large number of the “Clancy supporters” are simply saying “this is what can happen when y’all can’t be bothered to actually manage things right. Maybe you should fix that.” |

That is what this is all about. You get a whole lot of “I’m not saying it’s right, but I understand” when a guy kills his wife/girlfried (and sometimes kids) if he finds out she’s leaving or been cheating or the kids aren’t his. Sometimes it’s “yeah, that was messed up, but what did she expect?” Or “family courts need reformed and what did the wife/mother do to provoke him?” |

So there was already an increase happening before Lindsay Clancy became nationally known. The original media-based comparison also found more maternal child-murder incidents and more children killed after January 25, 2023, but after digging into the national data, you can not claim that proves a Clancy effect. The national data don’t provide a clean enough maternal-only annual series through 2026 to establish that. What ChatGPT did find is that the increase in child homicide generally predates Clancy, meaning the real question is whether maternal child murders increased above the existing trend after her case became nationally known—not simply whether there were more cases afterward. Not enough data yet. How many of those new cases did the defendant's claim innocent by reason of insanity? The real data for if they are copy cats is their defense strategy. |

It was probably significantly "easier" to get away with stuff like this and cover up an infant death because death before age 5 was so common. Not suggesting that women were regularly killing their children, but with rates that high it would certainly raise less suspicion back then. - Probably sadly true. - What a depressing thread. Medea, Ino, Agave, Althaea, Procne, literature is replete with stories of mothers killing their children, well, at least Greek stories. There are some Indian (subcontinent) stories also. If these stories exist it can perhaps be assumed that such behavior has been of some concern throughout history. |
