At this point police officers should limit speaking while on duty to "Yes" "No"(extremely limited use) and Miranda rights.

We walked by one on the hiking trail a few days ago. Looked like a white garter snake. He went his way and we went ours.

Lots of rattle snakes coming out on the trails here in Arizona, I saw one saturday sunning its self right in the middle of the trail. I walk off the trail and around it. As long as they stay out of my yard and I am not actively on the hunt for them, I leave them alone.
