The Oryx guy goes through all the video to confirm the tallies
I’d bet he’s only off maybe +\- 100 tanks
Probably not far off on the dead.   And they don’t know probably how many wounded die being evacuated to russia.   And I’m sure there’s no trauma air evacuation like the NATO countries would do from the battlefield with C-17s.   They just linger on RR passenger cars or buses until the expire.  So many a couple thousand more wouldn’t be out of the question.

From the video I've seen sometimes they fly perfectly smooth and sometimes they fly like somebody threw a concrete block in a dryer.  The difference might be good maintenance or the lack thereof, might be weapons load out, might be forward speed and rotor RPM.

I don't think it matters to them how many of their own people die or how many tanks die except when it comes to interfering with their ability to wage war. They absolutely see their servicemen as consumables. Many people would be kind of freaked out by losing 3 hammers. I have a LOT more than 3 hammers.

I'm OK with that.

The immediate threat is Russia invading another country and causing worldwide economic hardship, etc...

The corruption is an internal country issue. Ukraine isn't threatening to invade other countries or threatening to lob nukes.

Thankfully I keep my real life social circle small and they've all been immune to it.

Thank you, this on top of my mom dying is quite a lot on the old heart.

She isn't an idiot, she's a smart woman and yet this has worked on her. Stupid, stupid me could understand how the Russians wanted to buy influence at the NRA,groom some to appear on Russia Today and make them Russophile and then send them back to US media, how they fuck with us here and push fragmentary movements everywhere. This is why I encourage people to know WHY you believe what you believe. Read enlightenment era and founding documents, source materials, historical and scholarly works, etc and then think about them critically. Build a foundation. Form your opinions from that. It will really help shield people from propaganda and snake oil.

I think part of the problem we have now is that we're forming opinions based on the opinions of talking heads, youtube personalities, entertainment news, click bait, social media algorithms, etc. Beliefs are becoming an act of regurgitation and indoctrination and hurting people's critical thinking skills. If that's how someone forms their opinion, the foundation of their opinion is extremely weak and easily subverted by propaganda and snake oil.

To give an example and bring this around to the subject of this thread, if you have a strong foundation on the ideas of freedom and human rights it's nearly impossible to see Russia in anything approaching even a neutral light. If your stances are driven by regurgitation and what is personally beneficial or convenient to you, then you're very susceptible to being manipulated into supporting a variety of shallow opinions/arguments.

I don't want to come off as lecturing people. I'm no scholar myself . I just see this as becoming a huge problem in our country and beyond and hope that we can start combating it.

Eh, he's not entirely wrong. Take Carbanak/Cobalt:

There were three Ukrainian nationals in that group. They also happen to be the only ones caught because Ukraine arrested them. The other five Russian guys are still at large.
Also, all of Carbanak's hacking was done from Russia and all the loot ended up in Russian banks.

There are some Ukrainian assholes... I just can't site an example of "State sponsored" organized crime. Google can't either.

Article with more details on the possible Azovstal steelworks siege ending.

KYIV  The Ukrainian unit holed up beneath the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol said on Monday its garrison was fulfilling orders to save the lives of troops, an apparent indication that the long siege there was coming to an end.

The fighting at Azovstal in ruined Mariupol has symbolized Ukrainian resistance throughout Russia's nearly three-month-old invasion. Most civilians who had sought shelter at the vast Soviet-era plant were evacuated earlier this month.

"In order to save lives, the entire Mariupol garrison is implementing the approved decision of the Supreme Military Command and hopes for the support of the Ukrainian people," the Azov Regiment said in a social media post.

In an accompanying video, one of the unit's senior commanders, Denys Prokopenko, said: "The main thing is to realize all the risks, is there a plan B, are you fully committed to that plan which must allow for fulfilling the assigned tasks and preserve the lives and health of personnel?"

"This is the highest level of overseeing troops. All the more so when your decision is endorsed by the highest military command."

Prokopenko did not spell out what action the defenders were taking. The video was released hours after Russia said it had agreed to evacuate wounded Ukrainian soldiers to a medical facility in the Russian-controlled town of Novoazovsk.

Ukraine estimates tens of thousands of civilians died in Mariupol during months of siege by Russian forces who destroyed the Sea of Azov port, a city of around 400,000 people. The last defenders, including many who were wounded, had been holding out for weeks in bunkers beneath Azovstal, one of the largest metallurgical plants in Europe.

"An agreement has been reached on the removal of the wounded," Russia's defense ministry said in a statement.

"A humanitarian corridor has been opened through which wounded Ukrainian servicemen are being taken to a medical facility in Novoazovsk."

Ukraine's Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar earlier told Ukrainian television: "Any information can harm the processes that are taking place  Inasmuch as the process is under way, we can't say what's happening right now."

Probably.  From reading tweets from Chechens, it sounds like there is a growing anti-infidel, anti-russian sentiment again.  After Putin's war concludes, there's going to be another attempt for musilms in Chechnya to break away is my belief.

It never went away. That’s why Putin gives Kadyrov billions a year and free rein to do what he wants. They’ll (barely) tolerate one of their own ruling them as long as he has big carrots and a bigger stick. If Kadyrov loses too many men in Ukraine or the Russians can’t keep up the funding old Ramzan is dead meat.

I have read interviews with the leaders of the Chechen units fighting for Ukraine. They believe if Ukraine wins the RF will collapse and when that happens Chechnya will rise up against Kadyrov.

Turkey wants the F 35s, but they also want to fuck the Kurds.  So Scandinavia will need to find a way to screw the Kurds to get in the club.  Turkey is really in a spot to get what it wants.

They've been cut off and fighting for their lives for so long. What they've achieved will be legendary for generations.
Surrender or no, those guys are amazingly brave.

Expecting Russia to behave honorably seems like horrible folly to me though.

I would rather determine the address and ship them a pallet of vodka just to watch the QC plummet.

Russia says logistics ship reportedly sunk is safe in Sevastopol

"Logistic support vessel "Vsevolod Bobrov" (project 23120) after returning to Sevastopol. Despite all the statements of the Ukrainian side that the ship was shot down, or according to another version, a fire started on it, at the moment when the Vsevolod Bobrov was in the vicinity of Zmeiny Island."

What is up with those pointy ends of the missiles? They do not look symmetrical.
