I've heard some talk that the long range missile the UK may be planning to purchase for Ukraine may end up being the Bora (aka Khan) made by Roketsan in Turkey. It has a max range of 280 km, packs a sizable warhead and has an accuracy of less than 10 m CEP.

If options like ATACMS and the Israeli Lora are a no go, then this would seem to be a suitable alternative. The UK purchasing it direct from Turkish industry would also take some of the heat off the Turkish government, so they may allow it.

Cool video just released on Youtube. Talking about the battle of Vuhledar and such. Most of us here know info contained in the video. I thought it was still fun to watch. Regardless it's cool to have this stuff is being made for the general public to know what's going on.

Been saying the whole thread.  I think they already have it and are waiting for the right moment.  Maybe catch a corvette flotilla while launching, or coordinate it with a surface drone attack.  Something to cause distraction while the Harpoons come in.

The Ukrainians getting long range strike capability is a massive game changer. I'm of the opinion that a very large reason that we've seen a decrease in the amount of artillery the Russians are shooting is that HIMARS strikes have forced them to move their depots out of range, and that their logistics are such a cluster fuck that this has made it difficult to get arty rounds to the front in comparable numbers to pre-HIMARS days. Of course, the Russians have burned through a lot of arty ammo, but I think that being forced to move their depots out of HIMARS range is another factor. If Ukraine gets long range strike capability, that's going to force them to move their depots and logistical hubs even further away from the front, thus straining their logistics even more.

I'd also of the opinion that they need boatloads of DPICMs, and they need Western aircraft of some sort. The gloves really need to come off, while the political will and ability to support Ukraine remain.

Also, I think the Biden Administration is wrong to think that the UK sending long range strike capability will take pressure off of them to deliver ATACMS. If the UK does it and the US doesn't, it's just going to give off the impression of cowardice.

Moving depots back = more trucks needed to move forward, more gas to fuel the trucks, more people to load and unload the trucks, more wear and tear on an already insufficient truck fleet.
I think we should already be supplying them.  But who knows, maybe we want to go in unlubed when it’ll hurt them the most.

Britain prepares to send long-range missiles to Ukraine
The U.K. is pushing the Biden administration into providing Ukraine with weapons that can reach further into Russian-held territory

https://archive.ph/EWtZ6

Britain, which has prided itself on being ahead of its Western allies in introducing new weapons systems to Ukraine, now appears poised to send Kyiv the long-range missiles the Biden administration has long denied it.

No final decision has been made, according to a British official who declined to confirm the type, timing or quantity of weaponry under consideration. But the notice is a substantive step toward Britain itself supplying such munitions, and the requested specifications and capabilities closely match its air-launched Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

Ukraine has long pleaded with Western nations for longer range missiles, arguing that such weapons could change the course of the war by allowing its forces to target Russian command centers, supply lines, ammunition and fuel dumps deep inside Crimea and Russian-held territory in eastern Ukraine. As Kyiv prepares to launch a major counteroffensive as soon as within the next several weeks, the ability to strike far behind Russia’s front lines would help clear the way for a ground assault with tanks and infantry troops.

Storm Shadows can be mounted on Ukraine’s Soviet-made jets and reach into Russian territory. Kyiv has long sought that capability, and tried to ease Western escalation fears with pledges it would refrain from using donated weapons in such attacks.

“If we could strike at a distance of up to 300 kilometers, the Russian army wouldn’t be able to provide defense and will have to lose,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov told the European Union earlier this year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Shadow

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has dismissed talk among Ukraine’s benefactors of their depleted stockpiles. “If there is a moment in this conflict we can make a difference, why not seize it? What are we waiting for?” he asked of European allies at the Munich Security Conference in February. “What is the purpose of these stockpiles? If the weapons are degrading Russian armed forces, that is increasing our security.”

Hoping the UK's missile deliveries shames the US into providing ATACMS.

Of course, the US has disabled the ATACMS launch ability of current HIMARS sent to Ukraine. Hopefully thats a simple code change otherwise brand new HIMARS / M270's will need to be sent.

Description from TG, video in Tweet.
Footage of the assault by the Extreme tourism company group together with the 15th separate battalion of the 128th OGSHBr of one of the settlements of the Luhansk region.

Everything went according to plan: our BMPs flew into the settlement, advancing towards the center with almost no resistance, but at some point an enemy tank appeared, destroying everything in front of it... From that moment on, everything went wrong: The NLAW and Corsair did not fire, the RPG-7 did not hit, the RPG-18 only damaged the tank's mounting equipment, depriving it of communication (from intercepts), the Javelin could not get the tank behind the houses. In a tank duel, our tank "knocked off" and the crew abandoned it.

Time was lost and ours was deliciously covered by enemy artillery. We were forced to leave the settlement...

P.S. After some time, the settlement was liberated, but this is a completely different story

I think time favors Ukraine. Russia isn’t going to materially improve in the next 1-3 months. On the other hand, every month more equipment arrives for Ukraine and more troops are trained. Smart call.

Some good points. The Russian infantry isn’t improving. They rely heavily on artillery. I think the long range weapons like storm shadow could further crimp their logistics. Some analyst said that after HIMARS arrived Russia had to move its supply depots back 30km. This required ten times more trucks which they do not have to move ammo to the front and resulted in a dramatic drop in shells per day being fired.

Force those depots back 100-200km and blow more rail bridges and Russian logistics would grind to a halt.

Sink the Black Sea fleet!

No kidding!!!

Excerpt…
The Storm Shadow is a long-range cruise missile with stealth capabilities, jointly developed by the UK and France, which is typically launched from the air. With a firing range in excess of 250km, or 155 miles, it is just short of the 185-mile range capability of the US-made surface-to-surface Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, that Ukraine has long asked for.

Critically, the Storm Shadow has the range to strike deep into Russian-held territory in Eastern Ukraine. A Western official told CNN that the UK has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will be used only within Ukrainian sovereign territory and not inside Russia. UK officials have made frequent public statements identifying Crimea as Ukrainian sovereign territory, describing it as “illegally annexed.”

The missile is “a real game changer from a range perspective,” a senior US military official told CNN and gives Kyiv a capability it has been requesting since the outset of the war. As CNN has reported, Ukraine’s current maximum range on US-provided weapons is around 49 miles.

As an American I am fuckin’ proud of our Atlantic cousins!

This is not the first time Britain has gone further than the US in the weaponry it has been prepared to send to Ukraine. It was the first ally to announce it was sending modern Western tanks to Ukraine, in January pledging 14 Challenge 2 tanks before the US announced it would contribute M-1 Abrams tanks shortly after.

Earlier this year, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak signaled that Britain was considering sending long-range weapons.

“We must help Ukraine to shield its cities from Russian bombs and Iranian drones,” Sunak said at the Munich Security Conference on February 18. “And that’s why the UK will be the first country to provide Ukraine with longer-range weapons.”
