More revisionist history from Netflix. In their new Unabomber movie, the main investigator of the case is an FBI agent named Joanne Miller, played by Shailene Woodley, who spends the film battling institutional sexism. In reality, there was no lead female FBI agent working the case. The lead agents were James R. Fitzgerald, Terry Turchie, and Jim Freeman. The only real significant female in the entire case is Kaczynski’s sister-in-law who recognized his writing when his manifesto came out and convinced her husband to report him to the FBI, which led to his capture. Shailene Woodley’s character is completely made up by Netflix to inject feminism and female empowerment. Thank you Larry Ellison for stopping them from buying Warner Bros.
