Good morning,
I’m looking for your recommendations for a comfortable OWB holster for doing work around my property. While on the property, I’ve been clearing brush, running a chainsaw, and a bunch of other tasks that makes using my concealed carry holster a pain in the ass. Looking for something comfortable I can wear all day long that won’t get in the way of manual labor. The pistols I use are Sig P226, Glock 19X, and Glock 43X (my carry pistol) Thanks for the recommendations in advance. |

I like High noon topless holsters for that task, have a few of them
Leather does get beat up though |

I know it's not based and all but I really like the T-rex arms Ironside for exactly what your doing.

Any quality leather holster will be most comfortable. But, I live in FL, and my junk gets soaked in sweat and crunchy with salt within an hour, and actually wears out the finish on my guns much faster than kydex, and at the end of the day, I have a soaked, stretched out holster that doesn't fit so good anymore.

Make sure it has at a minimum some kind of retention strap. Those open top jobs are nice, and I wear one, but when physical activity is happening you need retention. Pancake holster are very comfortable and reasonably concealable if necessary.

I have an old leather Safariland thumb break duty holster for my 1995 P220. It's solid as a rock. It was a used holster, and the only holster the store had, when I bought my P220 new in 1995.

I really like my Safariland GLS holsters. Good retention that is very intuitive to use. They can also be adjusted to handle many different handguns. For instance, mine will lock an M&P or P80 without adjustment, but can also do a CZ75 or 1911 with an adjustment of the screw.
ETA: they are also reasonably priced. |

A leather pancake style holster with a thumb strap will be most comfortable, but a Safariland SLS/ALS (whichever you prefer) will protect the gun a lot better

There are plenty of options out there.
I strongly recommend one with retention for banging around a farm, working chainsaws, etc. I also prefer kydex for that kind of application. |

Thanks everyone for the recommendations, I think I’m going to go with Kydex, not because there’s anything wrong with leather, but I’m notoriously bad at taking care of my leather.

I have several Falco holsters in nylon, and find them extremely comfortable and need basically no maintenance.

I’ve been buying Comp-Tac holsters for 20 years. I’d suggest either a belt loop type or paddle type.
 G43 C-T Paddle by FredMan, on FlickrEverybody seems to hate them ,but woods work I use a Bianchi UM92. It’s fits compact GLOCKS, VP9, and VP9sk  VP9-UM84_92 by FredMan, on FlickrI wear the Bianchi on my utility belt. |

Who makes a good OWB holster for a PF45? 19Charlie Tactical makes one but I haven’t seen any reviews; they seem to be a pretty small outfit.

For the Glocks, get one of the Glock sport holsters. Comfortable, durable, great retention, and frigging cheap. It’s one of the best holster investments I’ve ever made

I've tried different set ups over the years for working around my place - on the tractor, tromping through brush, trimming trees, etc. I've settled on Safariland paddle holsters with the ALS locking. Nothing else is as comfortable for all day hot sweaty work.

I will tell you straight up that since I bought my property, I wear a Hill Bro's Chest pouch and I've left my holsters a home.
if I'm working ( and I usually am) I keep my home, my pistol, my knife everything in it. driving tractors, ATV's.. you name it. its the best "Useful" item I've ever spent money on. |

Leather is horrible for a work holster if you are going to sweat.
I’ve also never seen a need for a retention strap for a work holster. My latest favorite is the Trex Ragnarok with a Safarilands paddle. Really nice holster. |

I have one from these guys, mostly because they were one of the few places I found that had holsters for S&W MP 2.0 10mm w/4.6" barrel. Turns out it fits and feels was better than my RCS Phantom for my G17.

A-holster for OWB. The snap-removable rubber coated belt loops are the best thing since sliced bread. Easy on/off without having to mess with my belt and the rubber keeps it from sliding around on the belt as well. Simple kydex construction with great retention. Kydex won't absorb sweat on a hot day and it's easier on the gun's finish because it doesn't collect and hold as much fine dirt and grit.
Quick Lock Thigh Holster is another great option if you don't need to have a shirt concealing it. That's my go-to for woods carry. |

Just get a Muddy River. They have a nice sweat shield, break in quickly, and are very comfortable. Once it forms to fit, I doubt you'll worry about retention unless you're standing on your head and bouncing around to jiggle your tits for some gay midget.
I use one for a G19 every day and I'm pretty sure I sweat as much as anybody here. This time of year, it's soaked at night, but dry by morning. But, for the price of Kevin's holsters, you can afford to get two and swap out every day. Seriously, support an American small business and just get the Muddy River. |

For OWB with retention I’m a big fan of the Safariland 6378 ALS holsters. The paddle looks big but is actually super comfortable. The belt loop works really well too. I also added the OT Defense NUB Mod.
