They had built up SO much goodwill too.

People here were cheering their asses off when the Browns beat the Steelers in the playoffs and they gave a predator the highest guaranteed contract in history after saying they need an ADULT at quarterback while giving up multiple firsts to do so.

They deserve everything that happens to them.

Last three 12-5 seasons: 2 wild card losses, 1 divisional loss.

Not just slightly weaker if you look at their record last year with a rotating cast of misfits that QB'd for them last year when Watson was out.

It's mesmerizing to see Dallas F this all up. Dak is a good, maybe very good QB. That's it. There are 5-10 QBs better than him in the NFL, and Dallas is making him the richest QB in NFL history?

Damn.

There aren't 10 better QBs. 5, yeah. I would put Dak in the 6 or 7 best QB range.

It's a trend to make each QB who signs a new deal the highest in history.

However this was a monumentally huge jump.

Trevor Lawrence getting 55 million a year fucked everything up for the QB market this year.

I can't think of 5 much less 10.   Of that massive group who are all better than Dak, who is available on the market?

It's either pay Dak or go wandering in the qb wilderness again.

Haha, yeah, the “there are 10 QBs better than Dak” talk is beyond absurd and a sign that a person either isn’t informed or isn’t even attempting to be objective with their assessment.

Mahomes, Allen, Rodgers (when healthy), Burrow (and sadly, I have to add when healthy for him now, too), and Stafford.  I know some people are going to argue Stafford but he's still a playoff caliber QB.

Mahomie
Allen
Burrow
Purdy
Herbert

And then these guys are all at least at Dak's level:

Rodgers
Stroud
Jackson
Hurts
Love
Goff
Stafford

You could easily make the case that Dak is at best #6 and possibly even #10.

The Cowboys had backup QB Cooper Rush take the final kneel down just in case the Browns were going to Brown and do something classless.

Largely agree with this.

With the rating on Herbert....when are we worried about him? LAC pulled off a super ugly conference win. I've read some conjecture that the conference goes KC>DEN>LV/LAC.

Not sure what expectations for LV are but this game was trash football. Does Jim Harbaugh have what it takes to be successful in the NFL? Is Herbert going to survive/flourish in the system? After watching a few quarters of that shit show, it's questionable.

I would agree with that list. Now, I do think I would rather have Dak than Rodgers at this stage of his career. Maybe the same with Stafford. I think baring injuries Dak has 4, maybe 5 more very high level years in him. Stafford may, I don't think Rodgers does.

I would probably add Purdy to your list, he is right there.

Every QB is a system QB.

You're going to run a totally different system for Lamar vs Purdy.

What matters is how highly they can EXECUTE that system which Purdy does statistically better than every other other QB in the league based on EPA.

System QB is basically a lob from QB's who can't do QB shit to talk shade on those who can.
