And why is it that every state votes differently?

Democracy works best when it is simple and transparent. Not that the Australian method is perfect but all elections, be Federal, State or Local are run by the same Electoral Commission - a Federal body. Its fully transparent and has no computer system. The electoral roll is paper, the votes are paper and they are counted by staff in Situ. All overseen by Scrutineers.

Postal voting and pre-poll voting do exist and i suppose they are vulnerable. And there are voting locations everywhere - very little wait times.

And voting in Australia is compulsory - you get fined if you dont.

It may not be the best system - but there is never a reference to electoral fraud in our elections.

My Wife and I both voted in Pennsylvania today.

Nothing more than the same old people eating donuts in an elementary school gym.

It’s been the same in our district of Allegheny County, since we moved here in 2007.

Practically everyone on our side did, mail-in voting has destroyed the confidence in our system.

States can make laws and govern themselves.

They are what the rest of the world would describe as individual countries.

I would say actual vote counts instead of estimates matters bigly. The trends look good but it ain't over 'til it's over.

It may be what destroyed everyone's confidence. I'll grant you that. But I don't believe for a second that in person voting is any less rigged.

Practically everyone on our side did, mail-in voting has destroyed the confidence in our system.

That is something many will say was an intended benefit (and desired outcome) of mail in voting.

On a side note. Take all the reporting on turnout and numbers with a grain of salt. Some could be put out intentionally to try and drive down late day turnout. Right now everyone is hunting for clicks and views with their early reporting of exit polling and various other numbers being reported. Once the official numbers start rolling in after polling in the various battleground states close is where it matters.

Just got back.
Pollers were cheering as they crested 1k voters today.
My daughter voted her 1st time.. I'm not happy with her FL constitutional amendment choices...but she's an adult, it's her voice.
Poll workers said there's been a lot of 1st time voters.
Town is population of 2k. Very tip of Lake County...rural area.

Turnout. Urban turnout does seem to be down but nothing definite. GOP turnout looks to be (way) up but same thing.

My little town of 6000 was at 1360 votes by 11:30, which was over 1/3 of registered voters. Lots of new registrations too. When I was submitting my ballot I saw the 18 year old girl's ballot who was in front of me, which was straight Republican, which gives me hope for NH.

Blacks typically vote ~90% Dem (Obama got 95%), and their share of the population is about 13%.

White males typically vote heavily Republican.  White females, well, you know how that goes.  Whites are about 56% of the population.  OTOH female turnout is reported as being higher than male turnout, which is bad if they're voting for "but muh abortions" rather than "but muh grocery bill".

Democrat mail in ballots are down across to board. They had to MAKE UP ground today, and it's a lackluster show out at face value. Republicans always win the white vote nationally, so taking everything together, it's looking impossible for them.
