You would be wrong.
They are pressure suits but they are only rated for inside capsule use not extravehicular as they don't have the required protection for the harsh environment of pure space.

Supposedly they will go in the next year and they will be repositioning the Dragon to make room for it.

They have to repeat their unmanned test flights next year. Probably won't launch crew until 2022 at the earliest

Saw it from the driveway tonight, it was impressive. Supposed to be another launch on the 18th, thinking about driving over to watch that one.

I was able to see it from the SC lowcountry, near the SC/GA border about a minute after launch.  It was just a dot in the sky but the plume your talking about was pretty amazing to see.  I didn’t expect that, so it was exciting when I noticed it.

Interesting that they use Ammonia through radiators to cool critical systems.

Yep, I forgot to put a ‘still’ between they and use in my comment.  After all this time, something as abundant and easy to store (relatively) is the best option for the thermal range it’s working in (something like a 400F lower/upper range).

Fair enough. Does that mean they can be judged appearance wise against the other suits in the thread?

This is the American ‘ACES’ suit it was “replacing”.

Or the Cosmonaut suit is the Sokol KV-2..  Go look it up, doesn’t look pleasant.

Last I saw, they're shooting for a December unmanned test flight this year.  Manned test to follow in June 2021 if everything goes smoothly.

Given past track record, yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath on a 2021 manned flight of starliner.

I suppose.
But the SpaceX suits are designed to be more comfortable to wear inside the vehicle instead of donning the big ol' suits that function everywhere when they are only going to be used on the inside of the 'delivery' capsule - all the heavy duty suits are already on the ISS.
I suppose 'fashion-wise' you either like the design or you don't - personally I don't have a problem with the design.

Great Photo.
If one did not know 'what was going on' they'd assume it launched and was on it's way to a landing site.
Of course we know that it's in a low orbit and going to dock with the ISS.
(sure miss watching the Shuttle playing 'catch up' with the ISS'.  Watching the bright ISS and a few minutes later the less bright Shuttle trailing it. And, on a Good Night, getting to watch two passes. And every night getting closer, then seeing them nearly touching.)
It is still mind boggling, what SpaceX has accomplished in a relatively short period of time.

Yep.
I understand how it is accomplished.
Used to be fun watching them both.
When I worked nights my crew enjoyed watching them, very few people are aware that it is visible.
Still waiting to see the Star Link Clusters.

Right now SpaceX is scheduled to launch two rockets on the same day (Nov 21).

Sentinel-6 out of Vandenberg
Starlink-15 out of the Cape

CRS-21 will fly on 12/2 as the first cargo version of Dragon-2.

NROL-108 was pushed to early december.

Either...

Tom Cruise and Doug Liman will probably beat the Boeing manned team. The first entirely private Dragon-2 launch is supposed to take place late next year.

It must suck to be on the Boeing team and watch not only all the SpaceX guys cut you in line, but Tom Cruise...

Yep.   ACES IVA suits (the orange pumpkin) were essentially one-size-fits-most, while the SpaceX IVA suit is tailored to the specific astronaut.   Due to multiple connections (for cooling, electric, coms) in the multi-piece ACES IVA suit, there would likely be less points of failure in the 1-piece SpaceX IVA suit.

The SpaceX announcers (commentators?) said they've heard he hasn't stopped smiling since he got on the ship.

Yeah I was thinking it would be a little more cramped but they're able to at least move, and get a little breathing room.
