Not SpaceX but Virgin Orbital's air launched rocket is scheduled to launch today for the Above the Clouds mission.

Stream is live, currently waiting for the 747 to take-off.

Looks like they deployed at 105 payloads.   I missed it if any were actually televised.

Folks on the Pacific coast of the US  (primarily north) will have a good pass around 5:54 - 5:57 PM PST tonight.

Here is a Portland pass

Is this going to be another southern launch with dogleg or northeast trajectory?

Should be a beautiful launch, clear as a bell.

Don't think we will see any jellyfish effect as it's launching quite a bit past the Sunset time of 5:51 P.M., it will be too far in the shadow for reflections off gas clouds.

Usually I can see the launches to the southeast very well from our house north of Okeechobee, we're going to be driving up the turnpike to Orlando International to pick up my future son-in-law. Might have to pull over.

There was no dual screen showing the first stage.  The second stage plume soon after ignition looked incredible.

Hopefully Chokey will find some neat pictures of it.

Never gets old.

Hell yeah...I'm in Fort Myers and it was one of the better launches I've seen. I was able to watch the 2nd stage for quite a long time.

And I love those landings.

Thanks to you guys who keep this thread updated.

Yep. The Moon did it's part, not as spectacular as a dusk launch but no complaints here.
Still, it was a spectacular launch.

I didn't see the web cast, I was here a couple hundred yards north of the road block to the pad.

Here's another 1st stage pic from my crappy old phone

The CSG 2 mission is on 27 January at 611 PM EST.    That might be ok for sunlit plume viewing.

Maybe not.   Sunset 5:57 PM and civil twilight at 6:22 PM EST.
