Per the graphic Chokey posted above, the Purple Zone is the one that seems to be a factor.  It was the Harmony ship that needs to get the bill.

You can see the scramble to get out of the way, also...

So... are we getting 2 launches on the same day?

2:17 p.m. or 5:34 p.m. EST

Falcon 9  CSG 2 now delayed to the 31st

Nope. It was the Meriviglia that was exiting the port INTO the red zone.  The Meriviglia was passing the Jetty Park pier which is the exact mouth of the channel and entering the red zone.

Nope, it was the Harmony.  Red is the Security Zone, and Purple is the Hazard/Safety Zone.  Note that this graphic says remain clear of the HAZARD Zone.

@556therapy

It was Harmony.  Hazard Area points taken from Chokey's chart above, Harmony's position taken from https://www.marinetraffic.com at the middle of it's dogleg.

Starlink is lower priority.  It will slip most likely.  I wonder if their systems (range, control center, etc) can respond to two launches four hours apart.  That would be interesting if they can.

I'm hearing the captain of that cruise ship in my minds ear.

"What are you people so upset about!? I wanted to give everyone on my ship a good view of the launch. What? Putting people at risk from an abort? Falling bits of blown up, burning rocket? SpaceX rockets don't blow up. How dare you suggest such a thing!"

Harmony was in the purple zone and was almost out of that to the south.  The red zone is the truly verboten zone and it goes right to the edge of the port at Jetty Park which is precisely where the Meriviglia was and was heading directly into the red zone.

Plot where the Meriviglia was at the moment of the scrub and you’ll see her right at the mouth of the channel.

Where/What is your source for the red zone?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harmony was well within the Purple (Safety/Hazard) Zone.

NOTMARS and 33 CFR § 165.775 show the Safety/Hazard Zone as the one that is restricted.

The PDF (Posted on the Patrick SFS) that Chokey posted earlier reference the same NOTMAR, and say to remain clear of the SAFETY/HAZARD (Purple) Zone.

If that is a one day slip it needs to be about 2:07 PM for the initial orbital plane.    Looks like 1:56 PM EST on 1 February 2022.  Consider that tentative.

There should be one boat in the fairing recovery area.  I wonder if they are getting bored after four days of delays.

I was at the Rolex 24 in Daytona on Saturday night. The view of the launch from the top of the grandstands would have been pretty good.

@hdhogman

Friend of mine had a metal cutting shop that did work for SpaceX. They had him cut up the grid fins to be put on plaques for the teams involved. He had a chunk left over with the “flown hardware” tag still attached. He asked me if I wanted it it….

Silly question

I was at KSC Saturday night wishing I was at the track. Was entirely too cold to be anywhere but the house Saturday night.
