I spent 5 or so minutes around 8pm trying to find the live stream before I finally paid attention to the date beneath the clock in the lower right of my screen.

I'll probably forget all about the launch tomorrow.

First classified payload.

I would be willing to bet that there's quite a few people in the NRO and related bureaucracies who want nothing to do with Elon. But they have no other option since ULA is being hobbled by its own moronic rules, Boeing can't get its shit together, Rocket Lab is still too small and Blue Origin is...

My details may not be correct but I believe that this mission will have both first stages recovered by ASDS ships.

JRTI and ASOG.

Getting a little misty in here for me.  I really hope this goes smoothly.

It would be REALLY bad if one of those Tesla cars crashes on auto-pilot.

Does the F9 have a better safety record than the Tesla?

Still strikes me as incredible that they don't give those things a hell of a power washing before sending them up again. Especially when they are carrying people.

Nobody has yet been killed by a Falcon 9 rocket malfunction.  I'll just leave it at that.

There's what, like a million Tesla's on the road by now? Only 2 or 3 Dragon capsules?

I can't believe they came up with solar panels that can survive reentry.

The guys at the Cape get kind of butt hurt when that gets mentioned, they wear a dirty booster like a badge of honor.
Kind of a superstition thing for them.

I wouldn't do anything physical to them that didn't have solid technical reasons for doing it.

Yea just more chances to do damage to the booster. They have to clean the weld lines to check them i kinda wish they didn't and left it fully toasty.

OTOH, leaving them unwashed makes it very obvious that they're reusable - even to the casual observer who may not be aware of it.

There's some PR benefit in that.

I seem to recall a satire headline saying that SpaceX had a brand new booster going into service, but they would 'dirty it up' at the customers request.

People along the US east coast should watch outside for the rocket ascent and the re-entry burn of the first stage.

Dragon (with help from 2nd stage) can probably get to moon orbit if it needed to, wouldn’t put it past SpaceX to be holding that back for now
