I was taking pictures this evening of the storm to the north, and uxb said, "I could Kodachrome the shit out of that." I'd amend my sigline if that had been said on arfcom, darnit. So here's the song..

They cut the wheat across from us yesterday. I heard the combines in the distance and grabbed my camera cuz I'd been watching this thistle, waiting for it to turn pink.

Grabbed my scissors and some gloves and a trash can and just cut the heads off of every one I could get to in the garden that was anywhere near white. (It's just weeds right now--no actual garden this year so far) I figured hey..I don't have time to dig them, but I can sure as heck save the farmers around me (and myself) about a million minute of grief if I can get the heads out of there before the wind hits. The combine got this one about twenty minutes after I took the photo. No baby thistles happening from that. |

Something that really warmed my heart today. We had mandatory "emergency action plan, fire extinguisher, and active shooter" training.
All through the course, the presenter kept saying "Fire? No one is going to help you; you are on your own." A threat? No one i going to help you... Tornado? No one is going to help you... Shooter? No one is going to help you... At EVERY point, someone made the statement that "No, Larry will have our back, Larry will take care of us, Larry would die saving us..." "He risked his life..." and named several incidents., Every point. Different people. I am Larry. ETA: I am the "off shift" supervisor. |

I went to check the back side of my eyelids for holes and found a long nap. It's going to be a long one tonight. Making some Jalapeno apricot preserves. also. OMG, that sounds good!
