Published in Salon magazine, an article by the managing editor of Jacobin, a publication founded by Bhaskar Sunkara, AOC’s campaign manager.
Long read, but we must know our enemy’s thinking in detail. Eric Blanc offers a similar formulation. Eventually, after the Left has won significant gains at the ballot box and in civil society, the capitalist class will take the gloves off against socialists and do whatever it takes to destroy our movement. We'll need to fight back. The democratic road to socialism seeks not to elide this confrontation, but to make it possible. To replace capitalism with socialism, writes Blanc, "(a) socialists should fight to win a socialist universal suffrage electoral majority in government/parliament and (b) socialists must expect that serious anti-capitalist change will necessarily require extra-parliamentary mass action like a general strike and a revolution to defeat the inevitable sabotage and resistance of the ruling class." You can vote your way into communism but you have to shoot your way out of it.

Mao has written about this and it worked for the commies in China. They are talking about the "final phase" or the "crisis phase" where things go kinetic. They are not frightened by this idea and on the contrary understand that it is necessary.
But they will not be reacting to capitalist aggression or "counter revolutionary violence"...the left will be the ones initiating the violence. They will start the fight. |

Give them free fentanyl, they will solve the problem themselves.
It will just go away. |

Guess the leftists were not paying attention to Virginia's Lobby Day rally on January 20th. They have no clue of what they're asking for...

The comments section is entertaining, socialism is getting its ass kicked. I don't think this is going the way Salon expected it to go...

Do it already faggots, I want this sorted out in my time so my kids can grow up in a country that is free from commie PC SJW horseshit.
It will be my sacred duty to kill every commie and commie-lite that I find. And I’d enjoy it. |

I'm curious how many self-styled "Socialists" or "Democratic Socialists" accurately understand the definitions of Socialism and Capitalism.

That's some real old school Marxist class-warfare language.
I would love to see a list of countries that the authors considers to currently be socialist. |

You expect anything else from the managing editor of a magazine entitled “Jacobin”?

He believes there is no going back to allowing the people to have any control because of the money in politics. The solution is to punish capitalists for taking advantage of the system. Similar anger at the ruling and elite class but a completely different solution and away from individual liberty to ultimate government control. |

Only the Right can be "anti-Government". If the left want to tear everything down in a revolutionary rage, then it's because they are concerned about the working class- whom would die in droves from starvation, violence, loss of income, medical problems not being addressed, etc...

Why do you assume the teeming millions of communists throughout the past century weren't fully aware of what they were pursuing? Because it led directly to the deaths of themselves & their families? These people are true believers, they likely met their end knowing they had to die for Stalin to ring in the socialist utopia, and were happy for it. ".... an article by the managing editor of Jacobin, a publication founded by Bhaskar Sunkara, AOC’s campaign manager." In other words, just a bunch of BS spewed by the Useful Idiot Alexandria Occasional-Cortex, who represents maybe 5% of the democrat/communists in the entire country. So, one pipsqueak chants "Viva La Revoluccion! Por La Burra!!" And the entire country is supposed to cower in fear? Yeah right. Uh, no. Not impressed. Nor the least bit concerned about a Revolution or insurrection led by that. https://i.imgflip.com/2vi5ts.jpg View Quote |

for this to work, you must first destroy the middle class. the middle class is the bedrock of this country. if you can destroy it, push them all down into the lower classes where you have a few very wealthy folks and the rest are all at the bottom.. THEN what the 'jacobins' wish for will be possible.
btw, what is the largest single yearly cost for a lot of the 'middle class'? health care. load up the middle class with costs like this, push them down and what do you think they will ask for? relief, as in medicare for all (to start). at some point the middle class might just find common cause with the far left in order to deal with the increasing burden the medical industrial complex places on a lot of folks. the MIC should start paying attention, as should the right leaning inhabitants of the 'swamp'. |

When you've voted in welfare and affirmative action for everyone nobody is taking a bullet for the cause. |
