So you like the kmart of bacon? Awesome. If you can get the brand of bacon in any state in this country, its gonna be subpar.

Regional brands are just so much better. I get down on the winco budget bacon. It's like 2.99 a lb, it could sell for 6.99 a lb and you could still say it's good for the price. There are good smokehouses around here

I generally would say that taste and "best" food and drink is very subjective.  But, OP, your taste buds may very well be retarded.

The big slab of Great Value from Wal-Mart is actually pretty damn good.

Eating low carb, it has become a staple in the house. I'll just go over here and be poor now.

I buy whatever is buy one get one at Publix, usually go for the center cut. Seems like it's always the Smithfield brand.

I've had so many kinds of bacon I can't keep count. Practically every national brand, lots of regional brands in PA, NC, and OR, local meat market in-house produced stuff, home made stuff from family friends, several varieties from the Nahunta Pork Outlet at the NC State Farmers Market.

There are lots of good bacons out there. There is no bad bacon so far as I can tell. The worst bacon is still bacon and therefore delicious.

Cured, uncured, peppered, sugared, baked, deep fried, microwaved, pressed, wrapped, rolled, whatever.

OM classic is *exactly* what you think of when you imagine the taste of bacon.

That sounds like it would be worth a try.

At $2.99/lb, you have my attention.

Well the best bacon I have ever had period came from Granddad's smoke house but as far as a store brand goes Costco's Kirkland Bacon is pretty good for "store bacon".

I like the Oscar Meyer uncured bacon.

Every other brands cured bacon is a bit too salty.

Yea....."Superior" for cholestorel and a heart attack or stroke later on before your time! Check your family history for those health issues to determine how much medicinal alcohol you need to consume for long term cleaning of your arteries.

This.  OM is the "Mendoza Line" or processed meats.

They made good bacon. Costco's Kirkland brand has very similar bacon that's $10 for 2 pounds.

If the bacon isn't near 1/4" thick I give no fuck.

Oscar Mayer tastes pretty good, but even the supposedly "thick" sliced version is so thin that I could see through individual strips of the last pack I bought.

Kind of a pet peeve of mine because I hate the way super-thin slices fall apart and stick to the pan when cooking.

I buy a thick cut Costco brand, very good bacon.
I'll bake it in the oven until it is nice and crispy.

Another vote for Smithfield thick cut.  I like the hickory, applewood, or cherrywood.  We usually get whatever version is on sale.

I love everybody posting their regional brands. Most of that stuff is probably sourced from a Smithfield mega-farm anyway.

I'd love to see a poll on only national brands.

Most of it is. Especially if you look at the plant id number on the package.

Almost every week Wynn Dixie has a buy one get one free bacon and that is what we usually get.  We do most of our shopping at Publix but Wynn Dixie usually has better BOGOF deals.

I stopped being a bacon snob years ago.  Most of the time after you fry it up it all taste about the same anyhow.

Preach it brother.

If I can't get fresh local bacon from the farm stand a few miles away, Boar's Head is my go-to.
