amazing woman with an amazing life.   what a wonderful ohana

my wife’s great great grandmother made it to 106   most of her family lives well into their 90s   i always joke that it’s because they’re from extreme northern minnesota so they’re frozen half the year

it gives me hope to see she lived in hawaii and it can be done in warmer climes!  my wife and i intend to semi-retire on oahu in a few years   we both spent most of our elementary years there

Amazing. She looked better at 106 than a lot of people I’ve seen 20+ years younger.

What a life she lead and a beautiful family to celebrate her. You made me smile, OP.

I know you’ll all miss her, and my sincerest condolences on her passing, but it’s a beautiful story of a wonderful life.

I almost didn't click on this thread. I am so glad that I did.

108 years is a great run, I am glad that you got to experience her wisdom gained from experience. I sincerely hope that your family does a better job of staying together after loosing a matriarch/patriarch than ours did.

Did you know the Naluai family?  The brothers were the Surfers music group .Clayton, Alan and Buddy.  Their mother lived past 100 I think.  They lived in Kaneohe.

they were a matriarchy like yours.  Fun times

Thanks Koa you really made my day!

The pictures are fantastic, and the pic of Puna signing number one is being the eclectic patriarch that she is. The guidance that she has given will last for generations.

The celebration of Life should never be taken for granted. And the leaving of life can be a celebration of memories, for that will last in your hearts giving meaning to your families gatherings and always remembering Puna for her wisdom attained by being with Family.

I am sorry for your loss and sharing with the Forum how much Puna has effected all your lives.

And now its reached us, Thanks

Condolences to you and your family.

If my math is right, she likely knew Duke Kahanamoku.

While they call the Moana Surfrider the First Lady of Waikiki, I’d say your grandmother deserves that title!

I’ll remember this thread and your family while strolling down Kuhio Beach next month.  Best wishes.
