On it's face, this addresses all the issues I've seen/had with the JAKL design. To me, the JAKL always felt prototyp-ey, clearly a first draft of a company's foray into proprietary rifle design. It had some cool features but it still felt unrefined. This is lighter weight, they redesigned the upper and lower, it has swappable barrels, and honestly, yeah - the bolt together design of the 1.0 felt minor league. They ditched the AR lower compatibility, which is a bold move that I respect. I'm sure the engineering meetings were going through ways to fix certain elements and they kept running into AR compatibility restraints and it must have taken someone with some leadership guts to just look at it and say "screw it - we're going all in on the proprietary design! Make the best gun you can and don't worry about AR compatibility!" That takes balls. We'll see how it plays out, though. No more buying a JAKL upper, you have to order an entire gun. This is gonna give the BRN180 and possibly the SIG LT a run for their money. It has a better charging handle placement and design than the BRN for one (and sig, if you prefer side charging to AR charging). Those are still compatible with AR uppers, though. I like it and I can't wait to see other configurations. Also I'm interested to see how MUCH weight they managed to shave off. "Lighter" might not mean a lot when the 1.0 is a veritable front heavy brick.  |

For some reason the short barrel was substantially cheaper. I think I'll wait for the new version to come out now. I'm interested in the vuk, 308, and 9mm versions as well. I don't know what one but I'll eventually get a jakyl of some type maybe later this year or next. If I like it I'll probably get a few but I'm not in a huge hurry until it's completely ironed out. I kinda want bren3 or the FB GROT if they ever come out over the jakyl but I definitely want a 556 that isn't an AR or AK in the near future. |

As soon as I buy gen1 of something, thats when they announce the new and improved gen2 that includes that one feature I really wish gen1 had. They'll come out with a new product. I say I'm gonna wait till they start offering that product with X feature. Eventually I give in. Doesn't matter if its a month or 24 months. As soon as I give in and buy the current generation, they drop the next gen that includes that feature I had really been wanting. Its like somehow they have their back end tied to my account. Block the next release until giantpune has placed an order! |

That's another thing about the jakyl and even their 556 AKs, no chf chrome lined options. They aren't exactly cheap rifles and I would of had one by now if they had a thinner profile chrome lined barrel. PSA is definitely doing a ton of interesting things that I like though. |

I don't necessarily dislike nitrade just prefer chrome for longevity especially for something I can't easily change the barrel on. Not that I shoot out barrels often. They need to up the QC game. I have a lot of PSA guns and I have had a lot of issues that could of been prevented all be it minor for the most part but still. |

Quoted: Probably will put a hurting on Robinson Arms. I love the XCR, but their ordering process is slow and cumbersome. PSA is much easier, and if things are available such as barrels and parts then it will take a chunk from that market. That's my thinking. This or Robinson XCR? I'm not sure the JAKL is as durable as the XCR though.
