I was referring more to general commonalities. 2 states with substantial German populations.  Might be expected to have an effect on culture.

I got the reference. Could be. Or just basic good moral values for some reason. Either way,

Moved here from CO 7 months ago and don’t miss it at all. Country living is awesome as is no traffic and no snobby Boulder bubble soccer moms who think they know wtf is gong on in the world.

Living in Washington/Hickory, I’m looking to join a range and get out and meet some locals. If anyone has any leads on this, please let me know.

Burned through a good bit of my firewood already this winter... kinda glad I can burn coal as well if need be.
May let the fire go out later this week as the temps go up.

Based on your locale, I'd steer you towards looking at Clairton Sportmen's club.

You could also try posting an inquiry in hometown if you haven't tried that. There's at least a few people that can give you ideas.

Oh, and welcome

Raise your arm if you ever lived in a house that was primarily heated by coal, Once Upon a Time.

That house has been warmed by oil for a few decades now.
I well remember watching the Coal Truck raise the bin to an appropriate level and angle, get the chutes Just Right then open the spout.  Watching the coal come down the Chute was downright hypnotizing.  Eventually it would slow down and stop, the Driver would sweep the rest of the coal down.

Something like this, but lasting longer:

Well PA crew, I want to introduce everyone to the newest member of the laxman09 household! Sadie was born Saturday, she is the wife and mine first child! We've all been home for a few days now and she is the cutest little fart box Ive ever seen.  Our dog Dug (rottweiler/Australian Shepherd mix) is totally enamored with her and will watch her from the couch for hours.  Im definitely a proud dad already

Drive through it every morning en route to work -- about a quarter to six.
For fifteen years, I used to go through both tunnels every day (not quite, but 3-4 days a week when I wasn't at some other steel plant)
Then for the last 2+ years, after changing employers, I quit the parkways and tunnels and did 70 to washington most work days.  Long drive, but most of the time it was not too bad, except for the tight quarters around 84.  Now I have an even shorter drive to near Tarentum, and smile when I hardly see the fuel gauge move to and from work.   Not quite as fun an atmosphere and the people are a little different (same company), but its alright.  But I should be saving lots of moeny in gas and tolls from the 66 TPK extension.

Many people are afraid to go through the tunnels. If that's the way they are they have no business being behind the steering wheel period.
And the parkway east (into the city) isnt too bad before 6am.  6:15am or so on, forget it, its creeping along.
The parkway west outbound in the am is mostly not too bad.  Inbound at either rush period is bad.  The parkway east is bad either direction in the pm rush.

You are not far from the McDonald gun club (same as was in jack reacher).  Never shot there.  I've heard you need to be into BPCR silhouette if you want to be in good graces there.   But they do have a 500 or 600 yard range.  Not sure what else is out there.
Hickory is a nice area.  Still lots of big farms that ought to be good for ground hog hunting in the summer, if you ask nicely.

Well after all that rain to ice to snow... my roof has some serious ice build up issues. I bought a "Snow roof rake" last night and got off as much as I could reach and filled some stockings with calcium chloride to help melt through some of the ice damns.  Any other suggestions?  My roof sucks in that it goes from a high pitch to barely any at the mid point.  Already getting some water inside

State police are assholes.

You were a tad bit close to that semi.....
Where you headed?
Proof?
Address?
Driving straight through?
Sleeping?
In the truck or motel?
List what’s in back.
No drugs? Sure?
Where were you born?
No drugs or weapons??
How about those Raiders?
Where you headed again?
No weapons or drugs? Sure?

NOT a free state. Papers, please.
