They have a Geo Tracker on that list and you're complaining about the VW?

'08 is vintage?  Ouch. That stings more than hearing Metallica on a classic rock station.

My wifes (then girlfriends) family had an 06ish Toureg with all the bells and whistles. I did bad, bad things to that vehicle in the snow.

When it worked it was fucking awesome. Problem is, it rarely worked.

Popular Mechanics is a mere shell of its former self.
I have been subscribing to it since 1971 when I was a little kid, and it has lost its way.
They no longer build anything, have a monthly Car Clinic, a monthly Homeowner's clinic, how-to's on brake repair, etc.
What they do is disassemble things and label all of the parts.
They also did an article on summer drinks, and how beer is made.
But for those who still build things, they'll take you on a tour of an old hardware store.
And they also push the green movement.
If they want to help out the environment, stop publishing that rag and wasting paper and energy.

That’s why it’s vintage.

Most of those shitboxes went to the crusher.

Wasn’t that the SUV that you could get with a diesel V10 for a short time?

Surprised it wasn't described as 'rare' too. Colossal hunks of shit - but damn VW marketed them hard.

I came close to buying one of those when I was looking for something with ground clearance and 4wd/awd.

So many of them in great shape for such great deals. Then I found out they are very expensive to keep going.

Cool. In 3 more years I can call my car “vintage.”

So ten years old is vintage?

The only way that is vintage is if they are talking about the limited run V10 TDI. They only made if for a year and it was spectacular. IT was also shit at the same time. It was Schrodinger's SUV.

The V10 was available in 2004, then 2006-2008 model years in the US.

Didn't the Touraeg hold the title for the least reliable car in the US?

The best thing about that car is its seats.
Not sport seats but plenty of adjustment and superior foam to make them so comfortable.
