Did you guys know Queen Elizabeth is also Canada's Queen?

I laughed at the person that told me that; I guess the joke is on me.

Yep, for all intents and purposes they act on their own, but she and her office have influence no doubt.

What's interesting is that the succession is not the same in all countries. Some is still the first son, some (including the UK) is first child.

There are 15 countries in addition to England which recognize the Queen of England as their sovereign.  All are members of the Commonwealth of Nations, and are known as the Commonwealth Realm (other members of the Commonwealth of Nations are either republics or have different sovereigns as their titular head of state).

1.  Antigua and Barbuda,
2.  Australia,
3.  the Bahamas,
4.  Barbados,
5.  Belize,
6.  Canada,

She is on the money, and her picture is hung up in government buildings.

No Canadian I’ve ever met gave a single fuck about her, but that’s in Saskatchewan. Maybe she’s more popular back east.

People in Ontario are effing obsessed with the royals.  Every time I get on the QEW (properly pronounced "Q" by people not subject to British rule) I have a little laugh about it before I return to my defensive position trying to dodge brown people travelling at mach 2 in expensive cars while texting on their phone.

While there's plenty of things you could use as an example for this, not having a firm grasp on an antiquated foreign monarch is a bit of a stretch.

How about this fact:  The "Governor General of Canada" is an appointee by the queen to represent the queen in canadian politics; and all laws passed in Canada need to be approved by the queen's representative.
