If I put it on everything, then I'm covered.
If I only put it on some things, I might not be covered.

Cleaning Loctite off of threads is a nightmare too.  This is really a silly trend.

problem he runs into is that when he tests the breakign point, the angle of the wrench is completely different for all tests so you are not applying the same force to all of them

GD is the Ralph Wiggum of Arfcom.  Remember, this is the birthplace of 'frozen shotgun shell suppositories for hemorrhoids' after all.  Well, along with 'OMG!  IT SPINS!' and a fuckton of other memery.
Advice here is occasionally... suspect and should be taken with a grain of salt, checking of the wallet, and/or a trip to the doc for a shot of penicillin and updating tetanus shots.

There was a story on this forum, a Guy buys a upper from Palmetto.
There is a green tube of liquid in the box, so he figures that's lube.
Put's it all over the BCG and assembles his Ar.
Comes to find out it's Green Loctite.
He claims he heated the crap out of it with a hair dryer and got it apart.
STORY ALWAYS PUTS A GRIN ON MY FACE.

Loctite is nothing to fear.
Last week I changed the grip screw bushings on my Son's 1911 handgun.
Stuck the pointed tip of a Soldering iron in the hole in each bushing for 5 or 10 mins and they turned right out.
Degreased the hole and the new bushings and installed the bushings with red Loctite.

Examples of when and when not to use locktite?
People are "bedding" their AR barrels and gas blocks with it.
"LOCTITE® 620 is designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts. . . ." How about that?

Some people even combine it with stainless steel shim stock for barrel extensions. A former army marksmanship team armorer has compiled some good data on the efficacy of the practice.

If you're relying on glue to keep your stuff from coming undone your stuff is undertorqued.

I use it on things that CAN'T be torqued hard, like grip screws on some pistols.

Rookies.   You need to discover  polyurethane adhesive.   With the right technique you can glue anything to anything with insanely annoying results.

Castle nut, cotter pin, then safety wire the assembly together. Anything requiring less is only worthy of Paki tape and whore face sticker.

A buddy has a new kimber in 7mm08

he reported that it was not grouping well and covering a pie plate at 100 yards

I gave it a look over and discovered the brake was only on finger tight

I don't use loctite! For years I've borrowed a drop of my wife's clear nail polish and put it on the screw head been doing it for 50 years without problems. If i need to remove it acetone nail polish remover does it in seconds.

I mix loctite with JB weld and put it on everything with a screw or a thread....even my reticle adjuster caps don't come loose now .

You're welcome.

I'm finding that it works just as well to put some black enamel paint around either the screw shaft or head after assembly, and of course it's removable with tools easier than fasteners coated with Loctite.

The paint works especially well for applications that get hot because it bakes the paint on.

Try it sometime!
