I need to do some major surgery on my kids' LaTraxx Teton.
As I started taking it apart, two things became very apparent: 1. I need a good quality LED headlamp to work with such small fasteners. I can't see sh_t with ambient lighting. 2. I need. 4.5mm open-end wrench Who makes a good quality LED headlamp? Who makes a good quality 4.5mm open-end wrench? That's a rare size. I see some ultra-cheap Chinese junk online, but no Snap-on, SK, etc. Thanks for any replies. |

Related question for the headlamp guys... what's the best RC car to get these days? Is nitro still popular?

Hmm, in all my R/C years I have not needed a 4.5mm wrench.
In searching online R/C sites, none seem to list a 4.5mm wrench. Might repost in the Hobby Forum |

I have a bunch of RC cars and crawlers. I have never needed an open ended wrench. Good quality hex drivers (MIP), a few misc sockets, and needle nose pliers are all that is in my RC toolbox. What is it that you need a wrench for that a socket won't do?

View Quote No. Everything is brushless motors and lipo batteries these days. Traxxas and Arrma are the go-to for bashers. Losi, Tekno, and Team Associated are still big in the race buggies. Traxxas and Axial for crawlers. |

My experience is those smaller sizes are not forged.
I found these, but not sure if they are ideal. Edit: Ebay links are not working now. Search for item 204173526510 Edit #2: Same ebay set on Amazon.
Not an open end wrench, but: https://www.wihatools.com/products/precision-nut-driver-4-5-x-60mm |

It's been my experience that sheet wrenches wear out *very* quickly if they are not made from the correct grade of steel and hardened. |

View Quote Nitro is still a thing but these days go with LiPo batteries. I have been in RC since the early 80s and have raced built many. Team Associated has always been my favorite but as far as RTR goes, Traxxas is the dominant maker! Fun and durable, Traxxas is hard to beat. |

So I took a quick look at the parts view on that Traxxas and you need a 4.5 Hex driver. Way easier to use on the ball stud than an open end wrench.
This is what you're trying to replace right? Attached File |

I have a few different kinds like these - Attached File Attached File A lot of people swear by MIP or Hudy tools which are top of the line but in my opinion are overpriced. OK another question, sorry.
How do I pop the ball joints back into their sockets after separating them with the ball link pliers? Thanks. |

View Quote Some are easier than others but it just takes some force to press back on. If it's in a weird spot, I'll grab a microfiber cloth and put it over the ball link and use some needle nose pliers. |
