I have Ping ISI K from mid-'90s. They're in great shape but Orange dot (stiff flex) and I measure as a Black dot, -.5" of their standard length and flat lie. I'm tempted to find a black dot set, possibly with graphite shafts. I never broke 100, but never killed anyone either. I only golfed at tournaments a couple times per year for work, but haven't played in 6 years. Recently retired and a friend suggested it. I plan to get fitted (he works part time at the shop). I know he'll recommend Cobras or other somewhat less expensive clubs, but even new Pings aren't a ton more. I guess we'll see what fits and makes sense. 15 years ago my club speed was better suited to steel, so we'll see. With extensive use, I can flare up golf or tennis elbow, which is why I consider a regular flex, with graphite. Maybe Supersoft balls? Anyway, I'm open to suggestions. I might even just have a few Black dot, used ISI K clubs cut to length and see how they play |

I still play copper ISI and Eye 2 + wedges with graphite shafts. Tried lots of other clubs but why change what works Attached File |

Congrats on getting back into it. The coolest, most mind blowing website is, 2nd Swing. They have everything. You will spend HOURS on that site... No lie!  https://www.2ndswing.com/ Another suggestion, in case you haven't done so... Go to an indoor range somewhere with the radar tracker, movie screen backdrop, etc... and ask to take a swing with a basic driver they have laying around somewhere. No biggie... Just try it for rest purposes... It will measure your swing speed and what you should be using vs what you think you should be using. Me? At 64, I've slowed WAY down in my swing and use Senior graphite shafts. They work great with a 84 mph swing speed (at the top of the Senior shaft range - but still okay). |

Thanks. I can try these Pings at the fitting, but I know they're too long. These are orange and I fall into black, so length, loft and lie are all likely off. HOWEVER, I found out that all of that can be adjusted for $8 per club, including regripping. For $120, that might be worth it just to confirm new adjustments. I don't feel that changing to graphite makes sense long term. I don't want to reinjure the elbows, because they will nag for a long time. |

They have ads on eBay as well. Prices are a bit higher than eBay, but they likely back up their products better. I can't wait to have my swing evaluated. I'm wound tight. The last pro told me if I changed to graphite I'd likely kill myself or someone else. That was 6 years ago though |
| It's debatable but if you plan on bending older Ping irons more than a degree or two, I'd have the factory do it if they still offer the service. The local guys may not want to tackle that one no matter how little you want them bent. Different metal, hard stuff, possible breakage etc. |

They’ll laugh in your face if you ask for 2 degrees.

If you've been away, the loft and lie numbers you are using may be irrelevant. I'd work on grooving a repeatable swing before I went and got fitted or had clubs bent. What worked for you back then could be way off now. Put that money towards range balls and/or a few lessons to get back up to speed and then go for a fitting. If you have joint problems, I think I would avoid hitting from mats. |

Sooo...here's how it went down. I swung a few clubs and the pro happened by. He watched me hit, made up a few different clubs. Not a formal fitting, because I had no appointment, etc. As I suspected, I'm standard lie and standard length. i thought I might be -5", but the standard clubs worked well. I started off with my older Maxfli Crossbay 10.5 degree driver, which apparently I now hit very well. Gonna stick with that. Hitting my 7i Ping ISI K steel, stiff, my hands had a slight sting from the start. both hands, even on clean hits. I switched to a senior graphite because it was already made up and it not only felt great, but made a huge difference, Accuracy, etc., was very similar, if not a bit better. The pro then made up a Regular flex graphite with Taylormade Qi. He said my swing tells him I'm a long time away from senior shafts. I hit this club very well. If I'd been playing recently, and settled into my game, I probably could justify the Qi. They did have one set of leftover Sim2 Max clubs 5-9, PW, AW, for $749 online, $699 in the store and I used a Golf Galaxy discount code, so $595. Hard to beat a new set of clubs for that price and I really can't see even starting with the Ping ISI K at this point. I'm going to start there, because I have no game, so I'll start my game with these Sim2 irons and at some point hit them against the Q1 and Ping G430, possibly the Callaways The better news is that 9 years off did wonders for my swing. My driver was right down broadway, if only 200 or so yards. And if I can close my iron clubface just a bit, my Smash factor should be above average. The pro recommended a night league they have, but I said I've never broken 100. He just looked at me and said, "with that swing? Shame on you." and he laughed. I'd already bought the clubs, so I don't think he was smoozing me. I'll find out tomorrow, during my first round in 9 years. |

I used to play a lot years ago, and was showing some improvement. Then life kicked in. My daughter got older and was involved in a bunch of activities that took me off the course. I decided a while back I was going to get back into it and decided I wasn’t going to keep playing the ancient Adams A2OS hybrids I had. I got fitted and it came down to the Ping G430s or the Mizuno Hot Metals. I liked the looks of Hot Metals more, but I just hit the Pings just a tad better. Tried Calloway’s, Srixons and a few others. I FINALLY got to play them yesterday. Love them. Started off pretty rusty but the clubs were great and easy to hit. Made my first par in years. I need to work on my fundamentals - I made some nice, pretty shots but my aim was off. Next up is a driver and 3 wood. I think I still have some life in my Vokey wedges, but they need new grips badly. ETA: I just realized I hadn’t played since before my neck surgery which was almost 4 years ago. |
