Wow, some beautiful steel in wood in here

The only revolvers I still have left are a Ruger Single Six that I inherited from my grandfather, he got it in the 70's when he owned the towns sporting goods store and a new production S&W Model 27 classic that I picked up a couple of years ago because I just loved the deep blue and size of that big N frame.

Was shooting my Taurus model 82 at the range(was given to me) another guy about my age next to me sees it. He looks at me and says, Dude! That’s like one of the those old fashioned guns. My grandpa had one of those. He then grabs his buddy and tells him, hey check out this guys old school revolver gun. It’s bad ass.

I was just like it’s a cheap Taurus. Don’t get me wrong. It’s fun to shoot but I personally wouldn’t have bought a Taurus revolver over other options on the market. Unfortunately no pics. (New Phone)

Edit. I promise not all millennials are as dumb as that guy.

Crappy cellphone pic. Didn't have a group pic since the latest deletion and addition . . .

Gone from the group is the Ruger Single-Ten, taking its place is 1958 S&W Model 35 no dash (flat latch I-frame .22 goodness).

Top L-R: .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .45 Colt
Bottom: .22LR

Based on SN and production numbers we think it was made in mid 1879.

I can beat that. :) Mine was shipped from the factory in April 1878. I bought it from Simpson, Ltd. last summer for $550.

The .32 S&W ammo in the pic was loaded with the Ideal tool on the left, using bullets cast in the integrated mold, on top of 5 grains of 3Fg black powder.

The sights are not easy to see with middle aged eyes, but I did ok.

Much better condition, beautiful piece of history.

It's hilarious that the company now known for the X frame started with a little pocket gun like that.

It locks up as good as the day it left the factory. There are some minor spots in the bore and the finish is not perfect, but it's in super nice shape for being 142 years old.

I saw it on Simpson's website and had $500 burning a hole in my pocket, so I ordered it.

I haven't managed to get the grips off yet, they seem to be stuck to the frame and I don't want to force them. I need to figure out if there's something I can soak the grip in that will dissolve whatever congealed oil is glueing them on, but not damage the 19th Century rubber.

It's hilarious that the company now known for the X frame started with a little pocket gun like that.

Their first revolver was even smaller and chambered for their revolutionary new rimfire cartridge, which would become known as the .22 short.
