How long before it needs recharging?

Did it make it back to the pits?

Ok, I watched the video.

The way that thing pushed through the mid 300s was quite impressive

And then it took 24 hours to recharge for another 2 mile run....before catching on fire.

They will be pushing the production car record soon. Beating Koenigsegg to top Bugatti @ 304. (Rimac also now owns Bugatti.)

After the final run of Chirons, all Bugattis will be electric or hybrid.

The tech for them is running in the Rimac.

That's too bad, but is not like I will be buying either. As I joke, the technology in both of these offerings is quite impressive no doubt.

Yeah one just nee to look at Rimac and Koenigsegg to see what will be in their budget grocery getter in 5-10 years. Koenigsegg has been licensing out tech since they were founded. Rimac is building and integrating it into existing brands.

I wonder if EV cars benefit from higher altitudes when doing top speed runs since less air to drag and over come versus ICE cars that suffer form power loss?

You know why this doesn't mean shit?

Bigger motor, bigger battery, rinse, repeat. There is no real accomplishment here.

Same theory applies to ICE cars, rockets, freezers, guns....

Except the engineering involved in both to be able to not explode or disintegrate when doing what they are designed for.

This is where the next big push for speed will be found.  Battery tech isn't there, yet.  Hybrids are the way for the next thirty years or so.

ETA:  Holy Shit!!!!  Doing that on the Salt Flats is one thing.  Doing it on pavement through the woods where Herr Bambi can jump out in front of you is quite another.  Even hitting Thumper would be a real issue at that speed.  Great car, great driver, incredible track.

I agree, Matee (Rimac) is using Rimac sales to develop the technology, to be applied to Bugatti. Rumors... are that the new Bugatti will be a 4.x liter TT V10 Hybrid with over 2,000 wheel horse powers...

Uh, yeah, the same principle you utilize to make IC cars go faster?  More displacement, more boost.

Not really. Porsche invested in Rimac to have access to the tech that was much better than their own. Rimac isn't a test bed as much as it was a way for Porsche to hit the easy button with $500 million instead of paying 3x that in R&D and infrastructure.

Rimac bought Bugatti to showcase the tech in cars that people will talk about for the next 100 years. Buying Bugatti was a way to solidify Rimac tech.

Whatever tech Rimac develops won’t end with Bugatti, it’s going to trickle down the entire VAG lineup.

Rimac partnered with Porsche, which is a part of VAG. But Rimac did not partner with VAG. I would bet the 45% Porsche bought, in the contract has the tech staying exclusive for Porsche.

ETA: Rimac retained 100% of the rights to the tech. VAG will not see Rimac tech. Porsche will, the rest will not unless they license it from Rimac.
