Things like American Contingency is awesome, but sucks because keyboard commandos sign up and we might think we have 200,000, when really it might only be 50,000 at go time because people back out last minute in fear. Dont worry, I have seen it with my own troops before we went to Bagram and it happens. Cops get PTSD with these rallies now, and I bet it is very real. But with excuses not to answer a 'somewhat' patriotic call, your better to us by giving your guns and ammo to someone who will act. Again, sorry for the soap box, the context of this was typed in a clam manner. I surf GD a whole lot and just read the multiple threads about boog-civil-war-2.0, and I don't think we have the numbers like people think. Shit is super stressful to think about. Even the people who have been to war, HATE the idea of having one on the home front, let alone by fellow citizens. ALSO, just because you dont want to engage physically does not mean something could not be contributed to the cause. There is a bigger picture with the 'war machine'. But like I said, you can't have an excuse when your backed into a corner, the other side is showing they hate us more then we hate them. Just food for thought guys. There has to be multiple onramps to activism that allow people to pick their level of comfort and dedication. Maybe some people just want to stuff envelopes, and that’s totally OK and still useful. I worked in sketchy places in the world, but I damn well valued our cooks because my ass was hungry. Same goes for here when it happens. I just think our peeps need to reflect more on if they are really dependable or not. Not to mention unless you are LEO or MIL and have been in shootings, most people dont know how they will act until it happens. Had a kid literally shit himself when we had an RPG shot at us in Bastion. You know what? He stayed and continued the rotation. But there are others who said fuck this because they had small children and I dont blame them. |
