Wouldnt surprise me in the least....in fact I expect it before much longer. I think the chicoms expected us to still have Trump in command and the WuFlu to have done more damage, but they'll roll with it, change invasion tactics around, now that their puppet is in play, and it'll be that much easier for them after whatever red-flag-op they decide on pulling.

Same here, but add in the rumblings from many over the Gamestop stocks and the manipulation by the elites to reclassify and restrict people's actions and the whole thing could go French revolution on multiple fronts.  Trampling the Constitution, restricting free speech, not allowing others to play Capitalist games, this could get very bumpy going forward.

Gamestop is a bricks and mortar store that in recent years apparently made most of their money off of the secondary market in used consoles and games (ie: buy back used consoles and games and resell them).

Increasingly more and more games are available as digital downloads coupled with the fact that consoles and the like can easily be purchased online.  So the company's fundamentals aren't great, their last earnings report showed them losing 4.18 per share with cash flow per share of negative 2.81.  

At least one hedge fund - Melvin Capital - was betting on their bankruptcy by selling short shares of their stock.  So they would get a locate or borrow on shares from someone who owned the stock, sell it in the market with the expectation they would be able to buy back the shares they sold short for less than what they sold them for.  For example, if they sold stock short at $20 and the stock dropped to $10 they could buy back at $10, return the shares they borrowed and would make $10 per share.

Someone involved in the online company Chewy, made an investment in and/or joined the board of Gamestop last summer.  This led some to believe that Gamestop would pivot to an online only model and remain viable.  People on wallstreetbets (a reddit board) figured out that there was a large amount of shares sold short in Gamestop and thus it might be susceptible to what is known as a short squeeze.  A short squeeze is when the stock moves higher causing losses for those who have sold the stock short.  Eventually when the losses become too great, the short sellers are forced to buy back the stock they sold short.  Sometimes those forced buy backs come in the form of margin calls so they have to buy at all costs.  That short covering activity can spur the stock price higher and higher, causing more margin calls for short sellers who then rush to buy more shares.

So some disaggregated group of people on wallstreetbets apparently began buying Gamestop stock.  Their collective buying was enough to cause the price of the stock to rise high enough to cause much pain and suffering for the short sellers.  Add some short covering and the stock went into low earth orbit.  At some point people who bought will want to sell.  

So the stock has been a bit volatile as of late.  Just today it has traded as high as $485 and as low as $115.  It has been halted numerous times and is currently around $275 as of 12:34pm EST.

TLDR:  when there are crazy imbalances in supply and demand prices go nuts...  kind of like ammo these days...

We want the HEDGE FUNDS to lose their ass, not the little guy. Hedge funds have been doing shit like this (market manipulation) for decades and making obscene amounts of money. Then when a bunch of redditors do it, they cry foul and shut down everything. The Robin Hood app is limiting buying right now on several stocks. People are getting a bit panicky. Watch and see how this affects the market as a whole. I have a good track record for predictions in this thread, and I predict some extreme volatility in the next couple of months, perhaps a crash. Plus now that the Trump salad days are over, people will want to get out before things get really bad.

Well I moved about a 1/4 of my stuff that was in a high risk to low risk about 3 days ago.  I just haven't kept up with the market since because I got handed a box of "you been screwed" at work .  I was trying to sleep but now have insomnia.....  All I can say is when I crash it will be epic....

Growing up I heard time and again, "believe none of what you hear and half of what you see". I'd add that what you see needs to be taken in context. Media has become entirely agenda driven. What they allow people to see is a chosen snippet of time for which they dictate the context.

Vast majority of people don't how crazy all this has been. When they see it, the reaction is overwhelmingly "holy shit".
