Happy belated birthday Cece.  At least your birthday doesn't exactly fall on "Appreciate A Dragon" day in this new woke world.  And yes, I witnessed one of the 6th largest defence contractors celebrating it.

Gardens are easier up there. You have consistent rain, and good soil. We gotta work at it. We buy 10's of bags of dirt every year... D I R T! We pay for dirt. Shit ain't right.

Lol, guarantee if you look at your climate, compare to what you want to try, and have a window that gets some direct sunlight, you'll be able to keep one or several different varieties.  The American pitcher plants are voracious wasp and yellowjacket eaters, and might grow locally in your area so you can keep them outside.

They are called "Sarracenia"

As I recall, China cut off travel between Wuhan and other parts of China (even having their military cut roads and station guards), but allowed international flights from Wuhan for some time after that.  If it was an accidental release from the lab, the government quickly decided that they should find some way to take advantage of it, and turned their little disease carriers (attempting to flee the infected region) loose on the world.

According to the USDA hardiness zone I am 7b.  It looks like the Sarracenia leucophylla would be the best fit from that article.  I did not see that particular species in the store but probably would have to contact them.  The disappointment in reading about their care was I have to keep them in a cage like below and the water requirements....

Cage to keep squirrels and trash pandas out that go after the water source...

I still might give it a go but it will be on the back burner for a minute.  I won't have time to catch bugs for them to eat indoors (though that is only part of the advised food).

Thank you, she is off the nose tube and eating jello and clearer fluids, as well as getting up and walking today.  The fact she is texting me laundry lists of things to do means she is doing well.  Surgeon and oncologist are discussing limiting chemo because of the effectiveness of her treatments, it would be another miracle on top of what we were already given.  I'm just taking a little sigh of relief for now.

Is Grafting Dead Babies' Scalps On Lab Rats Better Than Child Sacrifice?
The horrors of experimentation on aborted babies are too easily purged from our thoughts, but they should stoke our national conscience.

Personally, the only thing I have a problem with here is the abortion factor. Otherwise, you have to give up stem cell research for cancer, bone grafts for dental and bone procedures, cadaver skin grafts for burn and other patients, etc. Are we willing to loose all of those other things?

You dont have to follow that site on growing them, but I've seen some outdoor bog setups that were easy.  You don't need to fertilize or feed them, they photosynthesize and they catch their own fertilizer  That only makes them grow faster.  My brother got a sarracenia and never fed it, but it got gnats and fruit flies as well as flies in the home, it tripled in size in a year.

Once it works out well on your windowsill, and multiplies, you can move them outside, they can get big.

Any temperature above 70 degrees is unreasonable for human habitation.

I get that it isn't for everyone. I'm hoping for a massive heat wave to burn the libs out. Flooding hasn't worked so far.

How uhh, long are you gonna be here?
In the next few weeks, shit gets real, as far as tolerable heat. You are about to become acclimated to Tejas heat. If you do not push your luck, you should be OK.
