They fully expected one of two responses a) someone from management pleading with them to sit down and discuss things in a conference room, or b) forceful removal by security/police, either of which they could use to get news coverage. Or they were too dumb to consider something as basic as potty breaks in their protest that was presented as them being prepared to stay there in protest as long as it would take. Various organizations can use this as a clue in how to deal with idiots of this type. Just put up whatever barrier is available to rope off the immediate area, post security at the perimeter, and declare the area to be closed. Anybody trying to get close enough to offer supplies, is informed that crossing the barrier is trespassing and will result in them being detained and charged. Anybody inside the barrier is free to leave whenever they want, without outside assistance. |
