Give them helmets, eye pro, clubs, and shields. deny the rioters entry into your neighborhoods using choke points and keep a reserve of dudes in the side streets for when they scatter. You will find plenty of pissed off people who want to defend their cities to volunteer. Also, its one hell of an experience. It gets very surreal when you charge up a street to a medieval street battle the middle of the night with a crew of teenagers, lawyers, and architects armed with baseball bats motorcycle helmets and shields screaming this is sparta. Woke up this morning to read there was a small protest in CDA. Supposedly, there was supposed to be some antifa guys coming from Spokane. I don't know how they communicated, but men and some women came out of the woodwork before dark with all types of weapons and started patrolling the streets. There was one small protest of a bunch of white people talking to a bunch of armed white people. Nothing happened but the citizens were way ahead of the game. The idiot reporter in the paper kept calling them automatic weapons.

Two nights ago we had an attempted break-in at Central Texas Gunworks, and supposedly a successful break-in at Red's Indoor Range...Red's is about a mile north of me.
-------- There have been several social media posts of "Where are all the 2A people? They should be out killing the police to protect the protesters from a tyranical government"...usually mixed with warnings that Hawaiian shirt wearing "alt right" "Boog bois" are trying to make the protesters look bad by breaking into stores and threats from protesters that they'll attack anyone wearing a Hawaiian shirt. This is a mess. The some of the police were wrong, and in a lot of cases still are. On Friday evening I was planning to attend the Sunday afternoon protest/rally in Austin. I disagree with 90% of what these "protesters" think politically, but this is the 10% we agree on...but after the violence and looting started, I want nothing to do with them or their cause. |

Sister is a liberal (though at least ok with fudd guns), brother in law isn't overly political but is in the middle. They live in the Philly burbs.
They reached out to me late last night for advice on buying a handgun. My advice was try to find a rental range and shoot a few, start with a Glock 19. My heart made me want to push CZ, but I figured be safe and go with something more universal. Did suggest if they buy one to take a class, and make sure they get in plenty of practice. I would have offered to let them demo some of mine, but I actually don't have anywhere to shoot right now. |
