A military unit was hit as a result of a night drone attack in Sevastopol, ASTRA sources
According to ASTRA sources in the emergency services of the annexed region, at least one of the 21 UAVs that attacked Sevastopol tonight was not shot down and hit the building of military unit 65372 on Monastyrskoe Highway. No casualties are known. Earlier, the governor of the Krasnodar Territory reported that as a result of the attack on the Kavkaz port, a ferry ship was damaged, and there were dead and wounded among the port employees and crew members. As the Ukrainian Center for Investigative Journalism previously reported, military unit 65372 is a separate special-purpose radio unit of the GRU General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. According to the “Operational ZSU” channel with reference to the osinters, the same unit was attacked on July 15. In the photo: archival photo of the unit’s territory, according to open data from Yandex. Cards" https://t.me/astrapress/60245 |

The change started when Putin came to power. From the beginning, he was planning global change. He began upgrading the military and economy, expanding and renewing Russian influence. Have we forgotten what he was doing while we blowing it off with the "Peace Dividend?" We blew it on entitlements that have hobbled us ever since. We turned a blind eye when he invaded Georgia. We could have stopped it then while it was easy. We could have stopped it in 2014, but talking shit was all we do. We could have kicked the Taliban' ass but we don't like winning wars anymore. We sold out Ukraine and Putin the slow leaking of support for what it was. We prefer to talky-talk the world to death than actually do something to stop evil. It encouraged Putin to continue advancing his plans.
Several things happened as a result: 1. Putin made the mistake of all tyrants, he believed his own propaganda. 2. Putin created a Russian illusion and did not realize just how far behind Russian technology really was. 3. Putin thought corruption was the key to controlling his Oligarchs, politicians, and military. He failed to see how weak he also made the country. 4. Putin underestimated the Ukrainian's love for freedom, Western influence, and the deep hatred for all things Russian. 5. Putin found a willing ally in Xi he thought he could manipulate. It marked the beginning of a game of who is manipulating whom. 6. He thought he could trick India into developing the SU-57 for him when he realized Russia was broke. 7. Putin pegged Biden as a blubbering fool he could push around. Standing up to Putin is likely the only thing Biden has done right in his whole political career. In my 9. Putin overestimated the American desire for isolationism. He calculated America would move aside and build his empire before waking up to reality. 10. Putin totally underestimated the economic power America can wield when it puts its mind to it. 11. Putin and Xi failed to correctly forsee how Europe would react to naked aggression. Instead of cowering to his will, Putin's actions have slowly untied them. Woops! Putin's calculations may seem insane, foolish, and rash but it makes perfect sense when looked at through the eyes of Russian tyranny. They follow the same arrogance and illusions of pre-WWII Japan. Sadly we are making many of the same mistakes of Pre-WWII USA. |

https://aviationweek.com/shownews/gascc-riat/ukraine-achieving-low-cost-kills-against-russias-attack-drones RAF FAIRFORD, England—Ukraine is transitioning to the “correct side of the cost curve” in its ongoing battle to deal with Russia’s one-way attack uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), the most senior U.S. Air Force general in Europe says. Russia has employed thousands of Iranian-developed Shahed delta-winged attack drones as slow-moving cruise missiles in a bid to force Ukraine to burn through its stocks of ready-to-fire missiles. When Moscow first employed the tactic it was effective, but now Ukraine’s air defense forces have adapted to deal with the threat, says Gen. James Hecker, Commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Commander of NATO’s Allied Air Command. “Ukraine is actually doing a pretty good job there [dealing with one-way attack drones],” Hecker said at the Royal International Air Tattoo here on July 20. “They have their backs up against the wall, so they need to develop.” Hecker provided significant new details on Ukraine’s low-cost acoustic sensor array. Called Skyfortress, the system uses 9,500 sensors located across the Ukrainian countryside to detect threats. “Their idea was to put a cellphone on a 6-ft. [tall] pole and put a microphone next to it and listen for the one-way [UAVs] that come their way,” Hecker told journalists. “They get very accurate information synthesized in a central computer and sent out to all the fire teams who have an iPad showing the route of flight of these one-way UAVs coming in.” The simplicity of the system means that conscripts with just a few hours of training can be employed to engage and shoot down the systems. Skyfortress had already proved its worth when an 84-strong raid of one-way UAS was successfully engaged with 80 downed, Hecker said. The system’s capabilities have also been verified with a test at Ramstein AB in Germany and trials on a weapons range in Romania. Each tower costs $400-$500 and does not have to deal with “curvature of the Earth issues” that conventional affect sensors such as radar do, Hecker added. Ukraine’s advancements with the acoustic sensors have prompted other NATO nations to look at the technology, Hecker said. View Quote |

Today, the grouping of forces and means of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with other units of the Defense Forces, caused significant damage to the enemy ferry "Slavyanin" in the port "Kavkaz". Russians used this ferry to transport railway wagons, motor vehicles and containers for military purposes. "Slavyanin" is the third and last railway ferry that the Russian Federation had in the specified region. We continue to destroy the enemy, his equipment and military infrastructure. To be continued... View Quote

He gambled that he could take Ukraine and assume control within 30 days before any in the West could react. If the Ukrainians hadn't blown the main bridge that led into Kyiv from the North, his gamble might have succeeded. He surely didn't anticipate his military performing as poorly as it did, and the systemic theft and corruption in the military complex most likely came as a complete surprise. |

View Quote They've had several flavors of long range missiles in various stages of testing for 10-15 years. They really buckled down after 2014 and the Neptune became operational in 2021. The initial 2022 strikes probably set them back a bit. But, They've shown themselves to be pretty resourceful with adapting and overcoming. |

Never did understand why countries seemed baffled by the need to waste a few pirates in speedboats. |
