Quoted: It would destroy the economy, infrastructure, utilities, maybe 2/3 of the people would be alive but the hardships they'd face would be immense. It might well destroy the US. View Quote You need to read the book "On Thermonuclear War." B country (rural areas) still survives, and so does most of A country (urban industrial). They shouldn't have enough deployed warheads to fully deal with NATO's dispersed forces, let alone start looking at A country. It would be a calamity, but not the end. |

The historical suspicion, paranoia, and inferiority-complex that has so long been a part of Russian government mind-set, sets up a self-fulfilling loop:
Russian actions, such as this latest invasion, INVITE reactions from outside nations, which the Russians then proclaim, "SEE! the West was planning on invading us! We're not paranoid! We need buffer states!" I am really starting to think that Russians are really not equipped--mentally, and emotionally-- to govern a large nation with large armed forces and nuclear weapons. They seem to be missing something in their makeup. Psychopathic perhaps? |

Those sub crewman would find nothing left when they got back to port.

These words were spoken by Putin well before the invasion. I watched him say them.

An EMP burst would spell the end of the country. EBT cards wouldn't work and half the country would rioting and looting. Bank cards wouldn't work,

i'm curious if the russians are laagering their boomers in the Barents or they've let them roam further abroad Are they still trying to make like pieces of sea ice in the polar ice cap?
Some boomers will be harder to yeet than others, i imagine. Such is life |

Quoted: Lol, this If the little states each took a couple of nukes to major cities, and the bigger states took 10+ each, and a nuke for each major military base, between the radiation, the damage to infrastructure(food, water, transportation would all be impacted), power and internet failure, incomprehensible nation-wide grief, yada yada yada, America and life as we know it would be toast. After our subs nuked Russia back, the whole face of the political and econonic world would be changed. It will be a return to 2nd or 3rd world living all over for the next 20 years to come back from that. View Quote Yeah but, what about global warming? |

Quoted: The hysteria, panic, handwringing, and ignorance would take care of what the nukes don't. There's been a mythology built up over decades that nukes are some sort of magical death potion. View Quote Quoted: Each one of those dots is a much, much smaller land area than is depicted. The concentrations around the silos would be the main source of fallout. Everywhere else would bounce back quickly once people put aside their sackcloth and ashes. If we completely cut off Russia from banking, they have no reason not to strike our banking systems. |

Quoted: 500 nukes would be a minor hiccup. There is too much land area in the USA, the industries are too spread out, for even 10,000 nukes to "destroy the US". 10,000 nukes could maybe destroy >50% of Texas industry. If those 500 are aimed at population centers, all you'll do is kill off the weaklings. The remaining Americans will then be out to eat your children. View Quote I truly hope you don't have any firearms under your control. |

Quoted: 500 SLBMs x .5MT would be able 250MT of destruction. That is pretty weak if that is all he has for subs. They could probably really fuck up one major city. View Quote It's even worse - if you are gonna be the first to sling nukes, there are some targets you HAVE to take out, or else payback is a bitch. Since some of the subs will get scragged before they get a shot off, and some of the missiles won't work, and some of the MIRV buses won't work, and some of the warheads won't work, and the most important sites will have whatever anti-missile systems around them, then those super-important targets are going to have to be targeted with multiple warheads off of multiple missiles off of multiple subs, so "500 bombs" doesn't translate to anywhere near 500 different targets. |

This is a horrible position to be in.
A virus wrecked a good amount of havoc on this country. 1 nuke in a major city would be disastrous on epic levels. You fools hoping for this, just to see the response, are insane. |

How much intelligence is there on the state of Russia's nuclear arsenal? One has to wonder how functional it is considering the dismal state of much of their military equipment.
