He is not the villain of this story. He built a toolkit for the powerless   and then the powerful picked it up. The weapon changed hands. Which is what makes the story worth telling.

1. Start with what he actually built. A toolkit for the powerless against the powerful. Not a philosophy   a set of practical instructions for people with no money, no lawyers, and no access, facing a landlord who wouldn't repair anything or a company that wouldn't hire them. In that context the rules are not sinister. They are what you use when you have nothing else. And they are good rules. Power is not what you have but what the enemy thinks you have. Make the enemy live up to his own rulebook   nobody can, because no institution can meet its own stated standards. Ridicule is man's most potent weapon; there is no defense against it. Read those as a tenant in 1960s Chicago and they are simply true.

Agreed, with one caveat.

The AK was/is the weapon of our enemy.  Picking them up, learning them, and using them against our enemy is no crime.

Same goes for us adopting and using the techniques described in Rules for Radicals against our enemies.

Alinsky was also a satanist, but he wasn’t serious about it. More in the edge lord sense than the ritual sense.

He said to his friends that he wanted to go to hell when he died because, “that’s where the interesting people are.”

Alinsky's rules are toxic as fuck if you're trying to have a functioning organization or society.

His intent was literally to create artificial conflict so a situation would come into existence that could be taken advantage of.

However this rarely if ever solves the actual problem and instead just increases the amount of conflict. Buried in the rules
in an unstated goal of attrition and capitulation, that if they keep creating conflict long enough it wears down the opposition,
but when your goals are insane to the majority this never happens, so you end up with endless made-up conflict (sound familiar?)

The example of picking up an AK isn't the right parallel. It's more like picking up some random chemical or biological weapon
that poisons you when you use it against an enemy. That's viable if you're a member of an insane death cult, or leadership trying to
force an unpopular change while keeping distance from the people doing the dirty work (e.g. the DSA), but completely useless to everyone else.

I think more people should read his book.  If you can find a copy that is.

Not to use any of the techniques he describes but to recognize when they are being used against you.  If you want to get inside someone's decision cycle you have to know what that cycle is first.  Recognize the play before the ball is snapped.

I dislike the idea of giving that man and his heirs any money but a digital copy was the only way I could find and read it.  It was always checked out or misshelved at the library for some reason.  I can't imagine why.

The point was he wrote to help relatively powerless people get landlords to fix the heat and yet those same tactics were pretty effective at getting government cheese.  Small cheese but lots of it eventually.  Government doesn't owe you cheese but landlords owe you heat.

Exactly right.  Read "Rules for Radicals" and "Mein Kampf" and you will never be surprised at what the Left does.  You've seen it all before.  You've got their playbook.

Nightstalker, you've got to remember that these are just simple Arfcom GD folk. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West.  You know.

Anyway, many here might be surprised how the RKBA movement successfully adopted Alinsky tactics to prevail in court, namely through the efforts of Jewish fellows like Alan Gura and Robert Levy and Alan Gottlieb and Aaron Zelman whose activism forced US Supreme Court cases against big urban metropolises like DC vs Heller, McDonald vs Chicago, Bruen, etc. on behalf of ethnic minorities.  Such as the forthcoming USSC cert case of Viramontes.

"Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."  - Saul Alinsky
Comparatively we can plainly see who never got jack shit accomplished for RKBA (or even amplified our hardship) for forty years:  Tight-assed milquetoast white bread conservatives with blown-dried hair from the National Rifle Association with their never-ending donation solicitations they improperly used on their own giant salaries and luxury items like private jets, exotic getaway vacations, fancy home landscaping, and a vast wardrobe of bespoke designer suits for themselves and their wives to wear at NRA-ILA champagne soirees.

Imagine thinking you've got it all figured out, only to come face to face with the One who knows you & everything beyond comprehension, & in that moment, you realize you were objectively & utterly wrong & stupid, & realize you have to account for yourself because you publicly rejected the only One who could save you from judgment.
