Ok, I get that metal prices, and likely everything related to ammo has increased in price, but who is buying at these prices and going to ranges to shoot it??   I’m especially angry after that Guns & Gadgets jackass apparently colluded with Sam Gabbert(SG Ammo) to push the fake news story of Lake City of no longer producing ammo for civilian sales.  That raised the price of 5.56 ammo 25% and it’s only just coming back down a tiny bit and should be nowhere near 50 cents/round, let alone the 60 cents that real LC produced Win M855 goes for.  Before that stunt, ammo was about 40 cents but at least that increase was understandable, but the jump to 50 cents and more was completely a lie.  At least 9mm is reasonable, but now that is going up due to manufacturer price increases from Vista, and everyone else will jump on board.  It’s just becoming too expensive to shoot in any volume or frequency.

Don’t know if it was LC, but I remember seeing some 5.56 for less than 50cpr.  on ammoseek.

SGAmmo just had blazer 22lr for $279 shipped for a 5000 round case. There are deals that still pop up despite overall high prices.

I think once Ukraine is over in about 6 years, ammo will be back down to just below pandemic prices.

I’m buying shotgun ammo quite often due to competition in the clay sports. 12ga is still cheaper to buy than reload but it’s close, prices have damn near doubled in the last 10yrs per case.

Last case of that I bought was $99. I could regularly get 525 round packs for $10 on sale from Big 5. Stacked it deep.

I just bought 9mm for 25.7 cpr. Higher than I like, but I'm guessing it won't be cheaper any time soon.

Given the situation that we had a few years back where 5.56 was at like $1 a round and 9mm was trading at at least $0.40, maybe $.50 per...these are way better.

I'd love to get back to a place where we got LC XM193 for under $300 a case shipped and great brass-cased 9mm for under $200 a case shipped.  I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Now you got me reminiscing on the Great Walmart Ammo Apocalypse of 2019 when I bought 50 rounds of brass 9mm for $5 a box and I was getting 30 rounds of brass ZQI 5.56 for $5 as well……I miss those days……

I'm not sure I'd call it "laughing", since .22 is priced about the same as 9mm was back in the "good ol days"....

But at least I can afford to empty a magazine without feeling like I'm depleting my 401(k)...

When the price of basic ammo is high, spend a little more and invest in your stash of premium/SD ammo. The price hasn't gone up relatively as much, and it usually lags on price spikes.

People are always going to buy ammo. They may buy less of it less frequently, but people are always going to want something to lose into their magazines
