Apparently the Washington Post said last year's Shark Week had too many white male shark experts. I wonder if woke Discovery Channel will over compensate this year?

On the local news a few minutes ago they were talking about how Shark Week was created to counter the negative image that sharks have developed.
Which I guess explains the Sharknado films.

It's sad when educational shows surrender to entertainment / sensationalism.
These girls swimming with large sharks "thinking they are controlling the sharks direction" is a recipe for a Steve Erwin ending. |

I thought it had been going for awhile already. There have been lots of shark shows in the last month or so, educational and shark attack shows. One show had a 2 headed shark, and it was followed by a show with a five headed shark, LOL. The fifth head was on the tail of the shark...creative actually.
On the other hand I just bought a pair of shark skin boots, I will wear them while watching the shows for the next week in honor of them.

Been watching the shark stuff on NatGeo and laugh when all these experts claim to have determined why a particular shark attacked a particular person at a particular time and day.

I used to love watching that stuff. I haven't seen it in years now. It is kinda unnerving that this is shark week though, I'll be 100+ miles out in the gulf in a couple of days.

I have seen two shows the last two nights. Both seem overly scripted.
In one two guys were wearing full face masks while diving and trying to "research" something. One keeps saying "Whoa" repeatedly and acting like they are in extreme danger. Yet there seems to be no concern for the camera guy or two who record their exploits and the possible three or so safety divers for those camera guys. |
