I haven't kept up with this, but it seems to have faded away pretty quickly. Ghetto hijinks?

Never carried at the TX State Fair. I think today will be a good time to start.

Quoted: I used to work the west dallas projects late at night on occasion. It's just too close for comfort if you ask me. The Dallas Police aren't my favorites either. Not doing it. Nope. We always park right across the street in a fenced lot. Minimizing exposure time to local community. |

Got all the way over here and the gargoyles out front said it doesn’t open until 2:00.

Quoted: I’ve been going to the State Fair of Texas since I was in diapers. There used to be Dallas PD cops everywhere on foot, motors, golf carts, and deer stands. They were always exceptionally friendly and professional. Fair park is surrounded by hood. Nowadays. You don’t go to the fair after dark because of reasons. Dallas PD has done an amazing job over the years keeping the fair goers safe. Staffing levels have been low as a result of BLM. This will continue to get worse. View Quote They need to turn the lights up over there. It's too dem. |

Yeah, that's the picture. My buddy found it on Reddit, so....

Other than some uppity areas around SMU and around downtown, everything inside the loop is a shithole.
Used to live right off Northwest Highway near Harry Hines and the Love Field strip clubs. Definitely a sporty area. |

I love going to the State Fair and always feel safe. Until I walk out to our car right outside the fairgrounds. I carry every time we go.

Quoted: Lefties on X are losing their minds and blaming this on Abbott already. You are supposed to show your LTC to an officer at the gate when you enter the fair. Reports from some on X are they were ignoring the scanners when people were entering. Fair Park has been a dangerous place for 50 years. View Quote One of Hal Jay's funnier lines ,probably 20 years ago, was "who was the genius that put Fair Park in the Fair Park area". |

Nobody ever worked late or came in early. |

We lived in the Dallas area in '85 - '86 and went to the '85 fair. This didn't happen on the day we went (and we got out of there before dark), a father and two daughters, 14 and 16 yo were coming out of the fair late and as they were getting in their van they were forced in the van by three of the locals from that area with a shotgun. They held the father at gun point and raped the 16 yo then left but before the family could leave the guys came back and raped the 16 yo again and the 14 yo. |

Had a CJ-5 at the time, often ran around in 30F weather with no top on, neighborhood thought I was nuts. Even in freezing rain. Could hear shoot outs going on between gangs. |

The worst part was the 737s flying right overhead on their final approach, and the subsequent car alarms. |

State/county fairs were sketchy a/f when I was a kid 30 years ago. When I was an adolescent, I figured out why I didn't like them and haven't been to once since.
Over priced food, sketchy ass rides, and rubbing elbows with the trash of society...that sounds like a good time. |

Quoted: I guess even with Texas being constitutional carry they are only allowing ltc holders to carry? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Yes. You have to check in with an officer at the entrance and let him know you're carrying. They may or may not ask for your LTC. ETA: missed the quote I guess even with Texas being constitutional carry they are only allowing ltc holders to carry? There’s a whole different level of access for ltc holders. Constitutional carry is for poora and stupids. |

The SC State fair is going on now. You can't even carry a pocket knife. It was all good until a gangbanger through a gun over the fence to his friend. That was years ago and attendance has been down ever since.
