I have lots of Glocks and Berettas and few other models mixed in but never have I owned or shot a Sig. The P320s are so cheap right now. I went to the local gun store and they had three used but looked brand new ones for $250. So should I buy one, I would probably never carry it, it would just be a range gun.

No.

Sadly no.

There are simply WAY too many competitors in the same caliber and weight category that offers similar or better stats for at competitive price point.

It's simply a "no-brainer" decision.

you couldn't give me one for free.  to be fair you couldn't give me one even before all the issues either

$250 is a good price for one in good condition.  Be aware some ranges and instructors won't allow them.

I’d never trust it for anything but cautious range use, and their slide stop location sucks hard, but this is one damn good looking gun and I need one in my collection at some point.

I can't shoot mine worth a damn.  I have no issues with my glocks but I can't but a damn thing with my p320.

I liked my 320 axg scorpion.   I sold it to fund a staccato c2 before the sig-leg hysteria began.

So far, nobody has proven what causes the 320 to holster bang. There have been a number of theories, and a bunch of youtube clowns sticking screws and shit into their FCUs to induce the striker to release.

When I owned my 320 axg, I noticed very quickly that it didn't take much effort to cause the trigger to break. I likened it to carrying a 1911 cocked and unlocked without a grip safety.

I always felt the gun needed a dingus on the trigger. IMO, any debris trapped in a holster is the likely cause of the 320's holster bang issues.  I think if the guns had a dingus, the 320 incidents would pretty much go away.

Yes.

No. Why consider it with the current climate and controversy? Glock, S&W, Springfield all make similar guns with no concerns of shooting your dick off.

First... I would not carry appendix with ANY semi-auto period.

I have purchased a few LEO trade-in P320 of different configurations.

All but one has a thumb safety conversion & Agency Arms triggers with the Glock like safety dingus, and the one that does not is a P320sc LEO trade-in that looks like new. I am collecting the parts for that to be converted. (the remainder are LEO trade-in and are post recall)

My first P320s purchased new were M17 and M18 civilian models. My start in pistols was a 1911a1 in the Army in the early 1970s and a pistol team member of my Battalion.  I have since been partial to pistols with thumb safeties. That is what lead me to purchasing the M17 & M18. I am disappointed the Civilian Glock G19X did not have the thumb safety!

Back to the P320... The safety conversion requires OEM safety parts, jig kit from SIG Mechanic (MSAFE-T V2) and the trigger from Agency Arms. The cost of these parts are just a bit under what the LEO trade-in pistol was priced!

The conversion is not for the faint of heart... it requires a Dremel and cutting the FCU chassis to a precise shape for the safety to fit. This pretty much requires a Wile E. Coyote School of Gunsmithing diploma and be Dremel certified.

I recently discovered a patent by Angled Spade Technologies for P320® Fire Control Safety parts that will block the sear from movement when the thumb safety is engaged. No idea when or if they will be available... I speculate they be somewhat costly. If so... I will need half a dozen.

Anyway OP... it all depends on the use the P320 will have for you. I have them for house guns spread about.

Don't forget y'all about the New Jersey State Patrol with the HK P7M8 and a few injuries from NDs, and Glock leg in what seemed to be a considerable numbers! Those were training issues... Some say the P320 could be training issues (up to a certain point) and related to reassembly of the slide to the frame after cleaning the pistol.

I would if it was cheap enough, just to shoot at trash in the desert. They aren't cheap enough yet. There are other $250 pistols out there that do the same thing.

There have been several S&W M&P LEO trade-ins for about $250.00. I have have bought four over the past year or so. BUT every one had triggers where the dingus safety did not function most likely due to the spring failure. I had to replace every trigger, slide stop, recoil springs, and the magazine followers (it seems the followers are made with soft polymer and prone to wear and failure to lock back on the last round). I lost faith in OEM triggers so they were replaced with Apex triggers. SO... they were not $250.00 bargains, but the parts cost was not too bad.

Now these were purchased specifically to convert to a thumb safety and as range gun to consume a good number of commercially produced reloaded ammo taking up floor space. I always despised S&W magazine safeties so I changed out the sear housing block assembly to eliminate that feature. Even at that the housing and thumb safety parts did not break the bank... and no "gunsmithing" was required only swapping out parts.

Do I regret purchasing the LEO Trade-in M&Ps? No, as I had planned on adding the safety and deleting the magazine safety... but they were $200.00 well used and worn pistols.

ETA... the LEO Glocks Trade-ins had ugly marks but only required fresh recoil springs or the plastic sights replaced (I have a bunch of new takeoff sights).

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one for $250.  My brother carries an X Carry or X5 variant.  I shot it back-to-back with several other 9mm pistols and preferred the Sig.  Too bulky for me as a carry piece, but I’d happily have one for range work or competition.

I have had much enjoyment from my M18.  One of my favorite shooters.

Maybe. There’s an extremely low margin for error with that trigger. It’s light and short and very easy to pull. It is not a good candidate for the “blind speed reholster” technique that so many people seem to favor.

I’ve got two and can shoot them better than just about any other gun I own. I’m pretty wary about carrying one, even though I tend to think that it’s probably as safe as any other loaded gun when it’s in a proper holster that covers the trigger.

I like the idea of being able to shoot and maintain the common firearms. I think we are heading towards dangerous times. Being familiar with the popular and the military issued firearms is a good thing. Plus, I just like guns and I like to shoot. I've been thinking about a P320 too. I see them in Cabela's used for descent prices. That one that you saw for $250 sounds like a good deal.

Even if we disregard the controversy, the gun itself is painfully mediocre. It’s the old DAO P250 forcefully turned into a striker pistol. There is a plethora of other similar priced and better options to choose from. If it wasn’t for the MHS trials, this gun likely wouldn’t have been produced past 2018 due to lack of sales.

I have one and tried to like it.

Just never saw anything it did better than my Glock19. I guess it's just personal preference.

I have the first release one that had to be sent back to be modified. It just stays on a case and might be worth something one day.

So many other good choices without tattered histories.

If I'm getting a Sig pistol, it's an old West German P220 or something.

I am going to go against the grain and say yes.

Despite the cuntriversy surrounding the pistol, it is interesting. I have three, they're 100% reliable and shoot like lasers. For $250 why not add one to your collection?

I wouldn't advise actually carrying it loaded, but not every firearm has to be for fighting evil. You are allowed to buy guns because they're cool.

I have 4 Sig P320 pistols, one in .40S&W, the other three 9mm. All are or converted to Carry models. One was bought new  early on and was sent in for the safety mod by Sig. The other 3 are police trade in guns. They all have been upgraded with the Wilson Combat frame and a Keres Dynamics flat trigger.

I enjoy shooting them but only from a fixed range bench. I do NOT Holster or carry them anymore. I may be lucky in that I never had an uncommanded discharge.
I don't plan to get rid of them, BUT, if I had it to do over again, I would not have bought more than the one.

Great range guns.

I don't think its a great carry option for most people. The gun is not stupid proof, and there are a lot of stupid people.

Only reason I have one is for my Flux Raider, but as a typical sidearm it’s meh. Prefer almost anything over it. But the Flux is a cool bag gun - just don’t carry it chambered. lol.

I've pulled all sorts of things out of my pockets and holsters. Metal chips, wood chips, small rocks, etc. It's amazing where wood and metal will go when you are working with them. Do a little work with a chainsaw and get ready to pull wood chips out of your underwear.

I'd pass on a $2.50 P320.

Here they are still priced stupidly.  new or used.   If i found an m17 or m18 clean for less than 400, I'd buy one.

wouldn't be a carry gun though. Just a range toy.

I can explain to you mathematically why the Sig 320 is nowhere NEAR as dangerous as hysterical guntubers selling clickbait would have you believe.

I've also built 3 of them from 80s, including returning one to functional from a bent frame, so I think I'm closing in on having a respectable amount of knowledge about the platform.

I wouldn't carry one AIWB. It's not the odds, it's the stakes, and the story of the Sig 320 is phenomenal lesson in bad business decisions, hubris, poor customer service, shitty manufacturing, worse QC, and poor taste.

As a design it's a great proof of concept, but as a consumer product it's irresponsible. It rides the ragged edge of safety for literally no discernable reason, stacking wildly questionable design choice upon wildly questionable design choice, in at least one instance abandoning mid stream a safety feature described in the patent.

Buy one and use it to build a Flux Raider. Keep it in condition 2 in a backpack. Or keep it in your safe, take it out and load it only at the range.
