Thought this was interesting, if you're going to carry a tomahawk you should probably know how to fight with it.

Anyone have experience with Wenger hawks? Love my RMJ for general purpose but would like something more woods oriented. His Beohawk looks great but I haven’t seen much talk about them.

If anyone else has been mesmerized by JaredGrey’s multiple pics of his Spyderco Warrior Hawk, this is about the cheapest your going to find it outside of a Black Friday special that’s usually around the same price.
Normal price is north of $400. https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/spyderco-warrior-hawk/ |

I got an old hatchet at a barn sale. What should I do with the hammer end?
I removed the cracked handle and ground the spall off. The hammer end looks bent in the picture, but it isn’t. The top is flat and the bottom is tapered. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

They were both under 10 years old and I showed them how to create a fire with a smoldering piece of coal. They watched me pile up some twigs, leaves, and larger pieces of wood before I started in on it. Once I had my fire going, I had them do what I did. Pretty cool memory for me. Thanks for taking me back. |

I don't recall if I've ever done that without 'cheating'. That probably wasn't easy! I keep 3" lengths of jute twine, cotton balls, and a small jar of Vaseline with my striker. Pull every strand of the twine apart, put it in a ball around the cotton ball w/ a dab of Vaseline, and as soon as a spark hits it, it whoooshes to life and stays lit for a long time. Pretty cool really because it startles everyone who sees it for the first time. |

The benefit of practicing my entire life for the moment my son watches me build and start a fire from nothing is priceless though. Which is the whole point. |

My ar15.com quote in WorldNetDaily - https://www.wnd.com/2008/02/45823/
|
In December, the custom tomahawk maker said March availability. In April, he said May. In June, he said July. In July, he said 3 more weeks. In September, he said nothing.
I realize he has a farm and a family., but when you’re a well-respected knife maker and you’re posting pictures of stuff that you’ve made and sold while sitting on a commissioned order…That’s not a good look. I’m glad I haven’t paid this joker anything yet. I’m sure I’ll get the hawk at some point, The only question is, will it be before or after I have my personally designed model started and finished. |

Last week, I got to hold the two tomahawks I designed. It was incredible. One is a full tang traditional American style with my preferred improvements. The other is a more radical design I’ve been working on for 5 years. I actually shopped the job out to Ancient Smithy (maker of the knockoff Winklers) last year, asked if I could get a custom order of 20-30. He declined and I guess forwarded my contact information to the Ukrainian government?
Hopefully the metalwork will be done by the end of the month. Then I get to pin and glue scales. I should post some cropped pictures. |
