So, after riding around on the KTM 390 Adv for a bit, I got a better idea of what type of riding I wanted to do. Mainly commuting around town and also some longer multi-day road trips. I narrowed my choices down to the Versys 650, V-strom 650 and the Tiger Sport 660. I had already checked out the Versys (seemed a bit heavy for just daily riding) and the V-strom (just didn't do it for me). I swung by a Triumph dealer a couple days ago to see the Tiger Sport and really liked it even just sitting there in the showroom. After a test ride I was sold on it. It's a '22 and while they were still selling it for MSRP, they were including all of the luggage (panniers and top box) which would have set me back another $1200. |

Did another little 300 mile ride with our group on Saturday. Bright sunshine and 75 degrees--couldn't ask for a better day to ride, especially in early March. This time we went to the Irish Festival out in Camden, SC via some awesome country back roads. All washed/waxed prior to the ride: Attached File Attached File First break after about 2 hrs of riding. Attached File As much as we enjoy getting out and seeing the historical/tourist attractions in GA/SC/NC that this group rides to every weekend, I'm re-thinking riding with ANY groups now. We've had several new people show up to the last few rides and I haven't been impressed. Saturday, we had some real winners join us...... 1) When you're doing 65 on back roads and riding in close, staggered formation, that's NOT the time to be popping wheelies. 2) It's not cool to downshift 3 gears instead of using the brakes when you've got a line of bikes behind you at 1-2 second intervals. (At least touch the brake lever so we know that you're slowing down.) 3) When you're in the middle of the pack, you have to pay attention. Locking up your brakes and skidding or doing a 'stoppie' because you were rubbernecking and didn't notice the bike in front of you slow down is bad. Its worse when it happens 3 more times within the next 15 miles. 4) If you're bored with 65 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone, and the group is riding in staggered formation, that is NOT the time to start slaloming back and forth from white line to yellow line. (I get it--I do it too. But I only do it when I'm alone and don't have bikes in front, behind and to my left) 5) There's a reason for the staggered formation and the short intervals between bikes. If you allow a gap to open, cars will fill it. (BTW, when that happens, don't blame the car and flip him off while passing on a double yellow. You're the one who left over 100 yards of space for him to get into) The core members of this group are fantastic to ride with but these new people we've been seeing are f'n idiots.

Sorry for the late reply. It's an ABS e-bay special. You might try to take a look and see if they have one for your model. It ran less than 100 bux. Bike didn't have a front fender when I got it. Big mistake in Florida. One rainstorm broke me of that habit. |

I've seen him there a few times. He's a pretty cool guy... When I worked in Burbank I used to see him all the time riding around in one of his crazy cars. I sure hope he's okay. Bought a Shinko 244, 5.10-18, tire for the front. Got it installed Friday and went for a short ride today. Handled pretty nice.

Took a little break from riding for a few years when I was having a fuel pump issue that I finally got around to fixing a few weeks ago. As of now I'm riding the same bike I have been since I bought it in 2006. Attached File Desperately trying to fight the urge to pick up a new bike. I really like the new SS950S and RS660. |
I picked up a 2011 CRF250R today. My 12 year old son took it out for a ride up and down the driveway. He cant touch the ground but he can kickstart it. It was his first time with a clutch on a bike and he didn’t kill it. I’ll let him try my old YZ250 someday, he’ll kill that.

I think I paid $8k for mine and the 620 was probably around $6500 if I'm remembering right. I think msrps for monster are $12-13k now. Not that this bike is not without it's problems as it ages. Ethanol fuel has caused some major issues that needed rectification. I'd like to keep this and buy another, but I only have room for one bike in my garage so I need to make a choice. |

I ended up getting my 02 in 08 for $1100 due to the rider falling asleep and hitting a tree. It took less than $500 worth of used parts and a lot of bodywork by myself on the tank to get it looking good again. That was a fun project. |
