Ok so put about 199 rounds downrange yesterday

-No malfunctions
-HBI bolt is AWESOME, having the ability to put the thumb up on this guy was great
-gun is very accurate, more than me for sure
-the factory flip up sights were dead on at 25 yards, I tested that through my cowitness
-all magazines, 20’s and 30’s functioned perfectly
—>I cannot be happier with this

While good, there’s things I want to improve:

-My last string of 20 rounds was not accurate and I thought my shitty cheap ass red dot base might be loose, even after loctite, got home and moved it by hand... damn it, so now I’m in the market for a solid low mount, I think ADM’s QD or something else, maybe MI, anybody have suggestions?

-I need to my AR tube into a folder so I can make it compact, any suggestions on an affordable AR folder mod?  I think I’m going this route

-I could do both options above or wait for Safety harbor’s collapsible Brace and get a higher mount for the red dot

Thoughts?

I went with the ADM QD low mount and a Romeo 5 to start. Seems like a winner so far - that height gives me a perfect sight picture (but no cowitness with the built-in sights) when used with an SB3A brace, and it locks up nice and tight. It may get an T1 at some point, but now, the Romeo seems like a solid piece and I’m really liking the shake-to-wake feature.

https://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/107/

For a folder, I went with the Sig “Knuckle” folding adapter for the MPX plus the Safety Harbor pic end plate. Locks up tight, and my only issue is that the SB3A is a bit wide when folded, so it doesn’t quite snug up against the receiver. It’s very close, but not perfectly flat. I’m not sure that any AR buffer tube style brace or stock will fold totally flat, but it’s absolutely a nice compact package when folded.

https://www.sigsauer.com/store/sig-sauer-stock-adapter-1913-interface-folding-knuckle.html

The collapsible brace looks great, and I may pick one up at some point, but I’m going to see how the current setup does first.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input, good to know the ADM QD mount will not co-witness, however if it’s QD, that doesn’t matter, like the AK side rail method of throw it and remove it

On the adapter I’d rather not have to substitute out the plate I currently have, if I’d go with the Sig adapter I’s Need the SHF buttplate too, at that point I’d probably just rather invest in the collapsible brace that’s almost out-anybody know if the matador set up is any good?

The Stribog is a quality bang for the buck, but B&T is definitely Gucci Gear.  Hell, it's only money, right?  Definitely not a bad choice, but of course I wish Jaro had got it.

I hadn't received any updates on the B&T entry.  Did they go with the APC9K or a new weapon?

Thank you.  To be honest, I wouldn't mind if one found its way into my weapons locker.  You can buy 3 Stribogs for the price, though, and not be any better at slinging lead downrange.  There is the principle of diminishing returns on that investment, although no doubt it's a damned good weapon.

I'm conflicted.  It would've been awesome had they won for many reasons, especially since it would've ignited the aftermarket accessory world.  But it also would've spiked it's popularity and cease to be that mysterious gun at the range that garners double takes and the inevitable "cool lookin' gun mister...what is it??"

I have both.  The Stribog could be nearly as good if a few things were addressed which I believe some are.  Honestly the GHM  supposedly stands for "grass hopper mouse" or the scorpion killer but at $1500+ I think that concept is lost.  The Stribog on the other hand will be a legit competitor as soon as the secondary market starts pumping out useful parts for them.  HBI and SHF are on the right track for that.

#1  Recip Charging Handle-  on the pistol its a hazard.  The only way I would consider leaving is being able to use a VFG.  SBR paperwork has been filed.

#2  Sights-   Completely fuckin useless.   Maybe as a pistol not so much but using a brace on mine to see if it would run made them useless.

#3 Lower Grip-   Some of the first guns out have a metal lower that will accept different grips.  I would gladly pay for one of those.

#4 Stock Options-  SHF is on the right track they just need to make ad adapter that will fit the APC/USC style stocks or another useful stock.  I have a SHF end plate and Sig Mini folding stock ready to go when the paperwork clears but would prefer a USC or APC stock.

I think at the $650 buy in and $125 for the Non Recipt CH along with another $250 budget for a good stock/adapter you are in bargain territory for a slick little weapon.   I am at $2350 for my APC Pro and spent another $100 for the ACR adapter and will have to pony up another $150~ or so for the ACR stock.  Flip side of that is a USC/APC stock is $150 and drops right in.  Both need a VFG and some love on the safeties.

I turned my gun into an 'A3' using modified A1 parts and it was relatively straightforward so I have no doubt an A1 can be converted using actual A3 parts.  It's more than just swapping the bolt however, also need to replace rear trunion which involves removing the barrel.  In my last correspondence with GO, they said A3 parts would be available once the the import paperwork/licensing clears.

Here's what I did:  https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Grand-Power-Stribog-A1-to-A3-Modification/48-497930/

I have to say, I enjoyed reading this thread and read every page. It was fun to see the development of the Stribog based on input from members here. Not in the market for a PCC now, already have the Beretta CX4 that I'm happy with, but I'd be temped to pick up a Stribog in the future. I think it's a great gun, and I'd choose it over the CZ and the Ruger. Sorry the Stribog lost to B&T for the mil contract.

Probably going to buy a Stribog locally tomorrow.
I definitely want to Form 1 this thing. What is the deal with 922? Is there an "official" parts count? With an AR trigger group and SIG stock am I good?

To my knowledge there is no official parts count.  But with Global Ordnance now importing, that may change.  Here's my interpretation of 922r parts in the Stribog (posted from page 12):

Of the 20 parts ATF has listed, an SP9A1 SBR would have 13 (so replacement of 3 with US manufactured parts to meet the 'no more than 10 imported parts' stipulation)

"IMPORTED" PARTS STRIBOG HAS/USES:
(1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings
(2) Bolts
(3) Pistol grips
(4) Magazine bodies
(5) Followers
(6) Floorplates
(7) Barrels
(8) Mounting blocks (trunions)
(9) Butt stocks
(10) Trigger housings
(11) Triggers
(12) Hammers
(13) Disconnectors

STRIBOG DOESN'T HAVE OR USE THE FOLLOWING:
(14) Sears
(15) Barrel extensions
(16) Muzzle attachments
(17) Bolt carriers
(18) Operating rods
(19) Gas pistons
(20) Forearms, hand guards

It seems logical that if you replace the trigger, hammer, and disconnector with AR components, you're covered.  Anything more is gravy.  Again, my interpretation only.

Additionally, since the "pistol grip" is an integral part of the lower receiver, one could argue that it's not a separate item, thereby reducing the total number of imported parts to 12.  However, one can also argue the Stribog's charging block counts as "bolt carrier".

You are absolutely right, if you meant SMGs.  You have some Glock mag owners demanding that everything take Glock mags, though.  If anyone can make it work, Jaro can.  If it doesn't work RIGHT, though, he won't put it out.

Announcement From Global Ordnance / GRANDPOWER USA- Let's Talk New Stribog.

Global Ordnance (GO) promised all new pricing and an entirely new business model for GRANDPOWER distribution and has been working non-stop to deliver on that promise to US GRANDPOWER customers.

New Stribog
The next batch of the new Stribog SP9A1 with NON-RECIPROCATING charging handle has been APPROVED by both US and Slovak relevant agencies. Delivery of FIRST BATCH of the new Stribog should be in the next few days with a SECOND BATCH following a few days later.

NEW Stribog pricing for 2019 effective immediately:
MSRP on the NEW STRIBOG is $699. This represents a $170 discount off the prior MSRP.
All new Stribog will be delivered with 3x 30rd magazines included and NON-RECIPROCATING charging handle.

We will NOT be making these available to distributors to add additional markup. They will be sold through approved dealers or consumer-direct ONLY. This eliminates an entire level of markup to the consumer. Dealers, if you wish to provide GRANDPOWER to your customers, please reach out to [email protected] and include a copy of your valid FFL.

We will announce availability of Stribog as soon as they are on premises and they will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis the moment they are inventoried. There will be no pre-orders and no waitlists. The first 2 batches represent more than 1,000 New Stribogs. All are built and first batch has ALREADY SHIPPED now that the approvals are in place. GO has committed to bring in more GRANDPOWER product in 2019 than has ever been imported by any distributor, in any year, ever.

Estimated first batch Stribog delivery is the week of April 22, 2019 as is the first batch of spare Stribog magazines.

We look forward to providing the best service and support possible for all GRANDPOWER fans in the USA! Tell everyone you know, Stribog is coming!

Warmest regards,
The Global Ordnance / GRANDPOWER USA Team.

P.S. If you haven't seen the GRANDPOWER demo gun sale, they are here and as much as 50% off.

There's been a bunch of questions about the A3 and bottom line is it needs tech branch approval before it can be imported as due to it's operation it is regarded as a new model. This is a long process before we even get a determination and it's up to ATF whether it can be imported, not Global and not GrandPower. If it is approved, we'll import it, may not even get determination till end of the year and that determination can go either way. IF it is approved it will be somewhere on the order of 40%-50% more expensive than the New Stribog with non-reciprocating charging handle.

The telescoping brace we pictured (below) is being manufactured and sold by Safety Harbor Firearms. It's a great solution and utilizes the Gear Head Works ATF approved tailhook.

You'll have to check with Safety Harbor Firearms as to availability of their parts.

There is also a factory AR buffer adapter that we offer that one can then put a brace on from the likes of SB-tactical.com
